It's strange isn't it, because if they used a proper beef burger with a decent meat content 'the people' would moan because it tastes different even though its better.

Its like they put crack in their burgers or something.

McDonalds is criticised by the middle classes as it's a big US company.

The food isn't great nutritionally but no worse than other reasonably priced options that sell food aimed at a family audience.

The working conditions aren't great but they are often better than other jobs you can do without qualifications, and being a big company with a high staff turnover it offers the chance for those who aren't academic but hard-working to get promoted.

Because it tastes nice and it's reasonably cheap and you can go to pretty much any McDonalds pretty much anywhere in the world and know exactly what you're getting.
I used to think the same. I gave up McD for a couple of years having see the film "Supersize me" and decided to go on a low carb diet. When I had one, all I could taste was tons of sugar and salt. I wouldn't say I thought it was nice, but it's certainly addictive!

I used to travel for work a lot, and sometimes ended up in McD when I needed quick food that I could understand and just didn't want the hassle of a restaurant. Maybe it's individual restaurant differences, but one in Tel Aviv was dreadful, Paris was OK but like many countries the menu options differ - far more choice in the US. Fries in the UK are the best, Spain is more or less like the UK. I found Burger King is more consistent internationally. KFC is much better in the US than here ("better" being relative).

I read somewhere that theres often more sugar and salt in those £3 meal deal sandwiches than there is in many of McDonald's burgers.

The French ones are alright. Potato wedge things, and beer on tap.

Burgers are better too.

I think this should be in the health section.... sorry its not a restaurant.

This week I forgot to sort my lunch out so I drove to a nearby McDonald's drive through.
The meal that I chose was near on 1,000 calories.

It was tepid. Reminded me that every meal I've had from there is tepid.

My point is how are there constant queues at such places? Such love. Yes its convenient but so is a pork pie.

Looking at the board the calories counts are off the scale. Really bloody are.

How have we've sleep walked into putting up with such a place on every street literally.
Pork pies, sandwiches, crisps and a fizzy drink from a newsagent's noisy fridge. Ah the good old healthy days.

Have you ever worked in one? I haven't although I know two people (friend's children while at uni) who have and were thoroughly impressed.

In fact one of the kids needed persuading not to dump their degree and move into the role full time as they were fast tracked through to some form of management level. Apparently career progression there is done really well.

One lad I went to school with works at our local one, a bit of a simple lad but pleasant enough. He's again, some type of floor manager and earning a very decent wage according to someone else I went to school with. A quick google shows the lowest form of manager there earns £17k pa and goes up to £34k.

Plus you're getting fast tracked with management experience if you want to go through to other employers.

Convenient, consistent, cheap, quick, reasonably tasty.

Although as a powerfully built PH director I feel obliged to add that I personally never eat that muck. We make burgers from fresh Kobe beef slaughtered each morning by me and my sons whilst my wife bakes a fresh batch os sourdough bread...

What he said.

Currently during lockdown, McD's are delivering loads, as many people can't afford the gourmet burger prices, and teens are not fussy.

Love a 1/4 with cheese, really hits the spot when super fresh off the production line, not so good when sat around waiting for a Deliveroo driver.

Both my 16 year old daughter and 18 year old son work at our local restaurant. Daughter whilst at college and son who decided to knock going to Uni on the head due to the expectation to pay full uni fees without the full uni lifestyle because of Covid - who can blame him? He’s likely to not bother this year also as uni’s will not be back to normal this year either.

McDonald’s is a VERY GOOD employer and working there comes with lots of benefits. They also look after the staff who are prepared to work. It’s hectic at times but sets them up very well for the future.

I'm a fan of a Mackie D's although I've not had a single meal from there since Lockdown 1 indeed no "fast food" at all since then. Can't say I've missed it.

Re the OP imho popular because it is so cheap.

...and people like it. Once in a while a quarter pounder with cheese and six nuggets really hits the spot. Tough to believe, I know.

It's OK food, but you know what you're getting in any Maccy D's in the country, and it's quick, convenient and not too expensive.

'A decent meat content'?

Out of interest, what percentage of beef do you think is in a McDonalds beef burger patty, and who do you think offers a higher meat content?

What is your point? If you closed McDonald’s you stop litter?
It would certainly help reduce it if there were no drivethru's?

Sooner they print registration numbers on the receipt/and or packing the better.

Don't you see much McDonald's litter strewn about?

Usually in laybys or hedgerows or depending how far it takes them to eat the food before discarding the packaging out of the window.
Registration on receipt is a great idea and must be easy to implement. That would be a good start.

I'm.not a huge fan of MacDonalds. But driving home from somewhere, stop at services and it's usually the cheapest option. It's fine. Eat it once a month maybe prior to 2020. Only had it once in 2020 as I wasn't traveling.
