Aldi 24 month aged vintage cheddar - small yellow/gold packet. Its the best I've found from any of the supermarkets, including Waitrose. Miles ahead of any of the branded stuff.
Is that the Scottish one? That's bloody lovely.
Agreed, very nice ... but it's not always available .. Grrr

Online and easily delivered...chedder gorge cave aged is awesome.., 2nd would be a Canadian 6 strength from Waitrose, black bomber is a good shout after that! Chedder gorge rips the roof of your mouth off!

Vintage sainsburys organic is passable. Noting you don't have a sainsburys in reach though!

The cave aged stuff is immense, makes lesser cheddars seem like yellow plastic.
Costco have some Wookey Hole cave aged Cheddar and it’s excellent.

Quickes sell online themselves!. Vintage is exceptional

In fact, why am I telling you this, I want some left for me. And don't even think of buying their whey butter, it is totally rubbish for baking or toast.

Ahh I had missed that they were online.

Yes, 18/24 month is amazing.

As an side, I found a similar cheese in Switzerland that was matured for 10 years (!). Very hard, but exceptional flavour.

Hello all

I’m looking for a recommendation.

I love a strong/mature cheddar and usually love trying local ones from various market stalls/country shows etc.

Due to the lockdown my search is restricted to M&S, Asda, Aldi.

Any recommendations please?

Ta.
Why are you restricted to those places?

Farmers markets are still operating - legally. If they're operating, then they must be expecting customers. You are allowed to be one of those customers.
