Enjoyed starting my first bottle of this tonight, lovely stuff! I think I like it more than the Porta 6 I was inspired by this thread to try the other week.

Tried the Porta6. Very nice, but not quite up there with Ink.

i normally get 5-6 bottles of wine as part of a weekly shop at ALDI. today i got none.

cashier lady "oh no wine this time, why, everything ok''.

didnt wana tell her the truth, that i found some better ones at asda. the jam shed and big bold red from asda are my faves, the barossa too.. but anyone know of other ones that are semi-sweet? if ALDI has some semi-sweet ones (aside from primitivo, or the duoro) i might start getting them more frrom ALDI,

yes that's one of the ones I get in ASDA. jam shed, yellow tail, barossa ink, apothic red.

It’s already been mentioned but Porto 6 is very good and currently on offer at Asda

This is very good for £5.60 a bottle if you buy 3 from Asda.

Sorry to say that I really liked Jamshed Malbec! I suspect it has been packed full of sugar, but it went down very well.
Me too. I like 19 Crimes as well, all three varieties, probably heresy on here...

Might not be the right answer but I find most wines under a tenner to be unmemorable at best.

M&S Found Zweigelt is an Austrian red from a man-made grape variety that is actually quite memorable, distinctive and definitely enjoyable.

Give it a try!

Can’t say I’ve ever heard the term alcoholic Ribera used as a compliment before rofl

More an observation than a compliment smile

I agree, usually denotes a sweet wine with no complexity or structure and no grippy tannins.

I am surprised the Guv'nor hasn't been mentioned from Majestic, I still find that for the money a very hard thing to beat. Good to see lots of Porta 6 fans too, there are always some on the shelf.

The Guv’nor is blended from all the Tempranillo that’s left over when they finish making Rioja… the stuff that doesn’t meet Rioja DOCa.

How the fk do Majestic get away with charging £6.99/£8.99 for it? It’s €2.50 a bottle in my local Mercadona.
