Could we please start (equivalent to the restaurant guide) a coffe guide
What I would like to find here a places were you get a decent brew. I do not necessarily mean 16 latte colours and 25 add ons to make it stop tasting like coffee, rather where the baristas have been trained properly, so that frothed milk is actually frothed- not scalding, and you can taste the difference between a latte and a cappucino as well as an espresso and even filter coffee.
Please state coffee brands if possible...

Isle of Wight:
Outlook Cafe in Gurnard, http://www.isleofwighttouristguide.com/Gurnard/Out... bristot
Thorntons, Newport, www.thorntons.co.uk
Watersedge, Shore Road, Cowes, Illy
Caffe' Isola, Pyle Street, Newport, http://www.caffe-isola.co.uk/, Local Importer for Bristot Cafe', good quality home made food, sometimes patronising service (I want a double espresso- Do you know what this is, Sir?)

London:
http://www.monmouthcoffee.co.uk/ - Roasters and retailers, have a few places in London, their original being on Monmouth Street (Covent Garden).

http://www.flat-white.co.uk/ - Probably the best place in London for a proper espresso. If you don't mind the kiwi accents this is the place to go. Small cafe on Berwick Street (off Oxford Street, Soho) can get a bit cramped but is usually worth it. Proper barista cappucinno art too wink Used to use Monmouth but now switched to Square Mile as their supplier (I think!).

http://shop.squaremilecoffee.com/ - new roasters, no cafe or drinks for sale. Owned by world champion Barista, James Hoffman. See his blog here: http://www.jimseven.com/. Can also order online.

http://www.caffevergnano.com/ - Haven't actually been myself but apparently makes very decent espresso. Also worth going just to see the Elektra Belle Epoque machine they have there. Have 2 shops in London, one in Leicester Square.

http://www.fernandezandwells.com/ - They have a cafe and a coffee bar, make sure you go into the coffee bar if you want the good stuff wink Round the back of Carnaby Street, they use Monmouth's roast.

http://www.algcoffee.co.uk/ - Not the best for a drink, standing only, but a good selection of beans. Can also order online.

http://www.sacredcafe.co.uk/ - Nice little place near Carnaby st.

Bullet Cafe (http://london.openguides.org/wiki/?Bullet_Cafe_@_Snow_And_Rock) - Odd location but good coffee

Online:
http://www.hasbean.co.uk/ - not a cafe, an online retailer, but IMO the best place to get coffee freshly roasted in the UK. Awesome selection. Usually delivered within 1-2 days of roasting.

www.aromatico.co.uk, all major italian brands per dpd (whole beans only) reasonable fresh, good service, @ a price
