Still showing in stock for me... £86 a bottle though? Sorry, it's just too much now.

Wonder how much non-committee stock there will be this time?

Picked up a bottle of Strathisla 12 for £27 in Sainsbury's, anyone tried it?

I'm close to finishing my bottle of The Arran Malt 14 now, and I love it, really good, just my taste.

I guess when committee release bottles sell for around £110-200 at auction they were always going to put it up a bit to try and take some of the profit from speculators. As you would expect more recent bottles are cheaper though, I would guess partly due to it being more recent, but also more and more people buy them to sell compared to the older ones which would be drunk.

Very true. If you can hold onto them for 10 or 20 years, then it starts to make sense.

There are all ready bottles up on ebay.de for 300 - 400€!

Question is if that will still be the case for "modern" bottles, when so many are holding onto them for investment rather than drinking. Could be a lot more static in price in the future, particularly if the original RRP raises a bit.

It's always crazy - but there is always a few people who buy them so I guess if you sell it early enough there is always someone who is desperate enough to pay a massive premium to be the "first" to drink it. Swedish price is £75 and looks as if they will get around 1000 bottles, so think I will try and pick up two. They'll also have a few Chichibu releases too which I might try and get a hold of.

Is it good? All the Swiss whisky I've seen is very expensive so I haven't bothered so far and stick to Scottish and Japanese malts.

It's one of my favourite whiskies and I always have a bottle of it. Well worth getting if you see it around.

One of my favourites as well - I'm on my second or third bottle of that one, but since its very smoky, and obviously peaty I can see it being a bit marmite for some. The other Santis malts I've tried have pretty good as well..so will be picking up some more if I'm back in Zurich during the summer.

It's not too expensive either, as I've typically paid £45-50 for a 50cl bottle although that's been Switzerland and Germany so if you did find it in you UK I'd expect to pay a bit more.

Anyone interested in a bottle of Aultmore 1974 before I send it over to the whisky exchange who will almost double the price for retail?

Labels all perfect and can be collected or posted in a wooden cask.

I can vouch for Shnozz and the fact this bottle is legit.

Funnily enough, in a couple of months I was thinking of visiting their distillery (if they do tours) as it's nearby our planned route (Leaving Egg and heading through Lichenstein to pop back into Germany).

Their website is borked but I may give them a call; unless you know if they do tours ?

Thanks Pod, but if you're buttering me up for a free wee dram it defeats the purpose...

I live in Zürich, so finding it isn't a problem (it's available in my local supermarket in fact) but have always assumed it'd be overpriced and selling on the 'Swissness' rather than the quality of the drink.

I'm flying to London and back tomorrow so might grab something from LHR, but will pick up a bottle of the Swiss malt as well next time I reach the bottom of a bottle (cupboard space is limited at the moment!).

I couldn't do that.

I don't have any tea from 1974.

So this happened

Superb service and such an improvement over previous years ordering / delivery. Whoever has "fixed" this deserves a massive pat on the back.

Now, what to do this evening...
