Cunning. I'm waiting for Xmas for the damson gin and that's a month ahead of the sloe frown

I can't see me lasting that long hehe
I did my Damson Gin at the start of September, tasted a bit yesterday and it's niiiiiice. Will be bottling and consuming it on New Years eve!

Great! Let's have some tasting notes from everyone. I'm really curious to find out how the different recipes turn out as there's some doubt as to whether our will be too sweet or not. We used Pam the Jam's quantities for most of it.

We're waiting until Christmas Eve to crack ours open!
The shot glass was replaced with a Tumbler yum it is bloody lovely.
not too sweet at all, I'd say it is perfect yes

I will be filling two 8oz hip flasks with it tomorrow as I'm working on my local shoot....I'll let you know what the Gamekeepers think of it.

What ratio of sloes/gin/sugar did you use?

Gone!

Flavour is perfect, and it wont last beyond the end of the month.

Have previously tried with and without sloes and no one can taste a difference, so they go. You get far more in a bottle now. smile

you leave the sloes in......then when finished the gin you fill the bottle again with cider, then leave that to soak for a few weeks and enjoy

weigh the empty bottle then half fill it with pricked Sloes and weigh it again, then add that same weight of sugar...then brim with Gin.

Hmmmmm... interesting way to measure it. No idea how that equates to ours!

We're going to make sloe brandy once we've bottled the sloe vodka/gin.

I did slider last year which was nice. This year I may do Slerry, just pour sherry on the used sloes.

"Slider, slerry, slandy" - that's the way I'm going to be talking after a few samplers on Christmas Eve I reckon.

How about using rum (slum?)

So many ways to get drunk, so little time.xmas

Yesterday was the first time I'd had time to harvest some sloes and the first decent frost we'd had. I now have converted 5 and a half bottles of gin into sloe gin. wobble

Bottled some of the damson and a half bottle of sloe the other day. The sloe is pretty good, not too sweet and minimal bite to it. One damson had more sugar and is too syrupy IMO, although SWMBO likes it, but I'll blend it with the less sweet to take the cherryade edge off it biggrin

All in all they're dangerously drinkable drunk

Here's the first of ours.. This is based on the "Quick Sloe Gin" recipe I think someone posted earlier (ready in a month). Tastes great..
Note the wobbly label writing as I'd been somewhat "overserved" at this stage (and had finished off of the old Gordon's Sloe Gin in order to use the bottle smile )
