Numberology business aside, that's a good-looking breakfast. I'd want a bit more toast and some hash browns and perhaps some beans (insert beans debate here) and then I think it'd be about perfect. Good going Gandahar!

I’d second that. Everything looks great. Just some beans and/or toms to provide a bit of lube.

It looks lovely, but that's an adult's calorie intake for the day right there.
No wonder we're a nation of fat bds with T2 diabetes waddling off to the Dr's every week...

Do you fill the main body of the pan with water? And just eggs in the small black 'bowls'?

I had one years back and the results were a bit hit and miss - hard to get them to cook evenly. I thought of getting another one recently and reading the reviews suggested the plastic rather than metal inserts affected the head conduction etc. There must be more to it than that as Gandahar's look perfect.

Maybe but coddled eggs are typically eaten whilst in the coddler whereas the "common person's" poached eggs are turned out onto toast. biggrin

the secret to poached eggs is simple, fresh eggs in a pan of simmering salted water..

I could put an egg fresh from the hen gently into a pan of simmering, salted water, and it would still end up looking like Cthulhu. I just don't have the "knack"!

If you leave the egg in the hen it stays together a bit better.

Doesn't salt break up the egg white? I thought that was a big no-no.

I always just poach in lightly simmering water with a splash of vinegar in. They always turn out fine.

I never use vinegar either. I don't like the faint taste and it isn't necessary anyway.

I boil the eggs in their shells for 30 seconds before cracking them, starts the gloopifying process and helps the egg stay together.
