My other half bought me one of these for Christmas, a Saeco Talea Touch Plus......................

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BScNnqNS4o&NR=... (apologies for cheesy vid!)

An excellent bean to cup machine and luckily we picked it up for well under half UK RRP from Ibood.com

It's really cool from the touch screen to the touch control lift and lower tray, great for gadget freaks like me.

Had a friend bring me back a couple of bags of Seattle Coffee Company beans which make excellent coffee!

I've got the Magimix M190 CitiZ Nespresso thingimawotsit.

Nothing short of superb for espresso in a rush in the mornings. Plus the Mrs likes a weak latte so is perfect for her too.
I have this exact machine - it's brilliant. Everyone who visits loves the coffee and I'd stick my neck out and say that Nespresso is the best invention since the iPod and the high beam assistant on my 730d!

Mate,
Go for the nespresso!
Best selection of pods
Machine approx £100 and the best £100 we've spent in a long time, depressed at the moment as we are waiting for the new pod delivery.
Go to selfridges and taste free before you buy

That's a bit like saying someone's the world's tallest dwarf. They might have 16 or so different types of pod that you can buy, but that really is a tiny selection in the grand scheme of things.

Just one of the local roasters I use does 17 different blends and single origins. Another one does 14. There are about 10 more roasters on top of that, each doing between 2 and 12 different coffees.

IMO you'd be nuts to lock yourself into a system that gave you such a tiny selection from one manufacturer.

(and the espresso in the Magimix pic above looks terrible - not really doing much of a sales job there are they)

Well I never knew coffee could be such a big subject. I've been using a cafitier for years, might have to grind my own and branch out a bit.

Me too. It seems that Cafitiere (sp) is a very different taste to Nespresso and the like, and tbh I've never really got on with the bitter taste of Cafitieres. hurl

Just bought a second hand Magimix M150 for £20 on ebay, good reviews on the net about it apart from the crappy milk frothing but that doesnt bother me.

If I like it and keep susing it (like after three months) then i'll get a new one and a ericcino or whatever its called for milk!

Roasting green beans is a whole new ball game too, but the end result is worth it.
