Cover versions which are better than the original
Discussion
Must admit i never realized that The ballad of Lucy Jordan by Marianne Faithful was a cover until today and i have been listening to that for decades.I heard a cover by Nicki Gillis today which was very good but a bit to polished. To my mind the Marianne Faithful version has the edge because of its rough edges.
I love Molly Tuttle's version of the Rolling Stones 'She's a rainbow' - some mind-blowing flat-picking going on.

Also Bronwen Lewis and Sarah Passmore's version of Joni Mitchell's 'River' has beautifully blended vocals:

I assume we'd all agree that every one of those tone deaf, talentless, breathy covers of great songs by sh!t no-marks on sh!t TV ads commissioned by sh!t marketing execs should be erased from history, and everyone involved rounded up and shot?

I dunno - this cover of Wicked Game by Ursine Vulpine and Annaca (used to advertise Forza Horizon 3 on Xbox) is pretty stunning:

I’m sure I’ve posted this in one of these threads before, but I do like this version of Satisfaction by Assemblage…
Or this soul version from the great Otis Redding Funk said:

We'll have to agree to disagree, I'm afraid. Might be perfect for selling chocolate bars to spinsters, though... Edited by Funk on Wednesday 1st March 00:13

This version is my guilty pleasure - often cranked to 11 on a Friday night. Play it loud, mutha!
(won't be to everyone's taste. If you have poor taste )

quite like it TBH - that said the opening 30 seconds I could hear Black Sabbath and Judas Priest which is not a bad thing(won't be to everyone's taste. If you have poor taste )
