oilbethere's user name made me go on to YouTube to hear The Four Tops I'll Be There.

That led to Marvin Gaye's Heard It Through The Grapevine.

Every so often you have to have some Motown in your life.

Have you heard this version Dicky?

From the album Cosmo's Factory, polar opposite of the original, and I think it's equally brilliant.

Thanks for that, seg. Not only did I enjoy it very much but also I remembered I had it on vinyl years ago and it was one that didn't migrate to the CD collection. This will be rectified. Playing CCR inevitably leads me to Canned Heat which in turn leads to the Good Morning Vietnam soundtrack CD.

Marvellous.

Was having a Joy Division revisit the other night and stumbled across this. Utterly amazing how he puts all the bass and guitar lines simultaneously through a single acoustic.

So this:
You can hear Alan Price and his band perform House of the Rising Sun in the Bulls Head in Barnes once a month. They also do an eleven minute version of Jackson Browne's Say It Isn't True which deserves wider recognition.
