I’m listening to Eric Prydz Epic 5.0 as it’s a nice bouncy set and much better than bagpipes or fiddles on Hogmanay.

These guys played Hogmanay last night, very high energy set, extremely confident and loud. They were both brilliant, but her vocals were another level, and she moved really well on stage.

Certinatly not everyones cup of tea, but if you like electronic, synth music, or even just have an open mind then check them out;

I’ve always liked “Little Wing” - and not necessarily to everyone’s taste, but Ben does some very pleasant covers as well as his own stuff - something to do with too much noodling in the long winter nights in Finland I suspect....

Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds, haven't listened the full way through for a few years now. One of my favourites, especially looking out on a clear(ish) night as it is tonight.
If I could only listen to one thing for the rest of my life, this would be it. Wonderfully atmospheric, brilliant story, great music and fantastic vocal performances. You can listen to the whole story or just the music if you want. It must have been quite something when it was released back in 78. That first listen on crackling vinal must have added to the moment.

I wasn't born till 83, so by the time I got round to listening to it properly when I could appreciate it I already knew most of the songs from radio and tape play (stepdad listened to it quite a bit) so I missed that raw experience you would have got originally. It's a regular listen for me. It's a fantastic album.

I Introduced my daughters, 11 and 8, to WotW on a recent trip back from Canberra - kept them quiet for about an hour, which is almost in the realm of Miraculous!

Anyway, right now, listening to Angie MacMahon performing Missing Me live on the box...

War of the Worlds is excellent, Burton, Essex, Hayward, Lynott - what a cast. And the session musicians, Chris Spedding, Herbie Flowers and the rest. Truly an epic.

As to what I'm listening to right now - Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section, West Coast meets East Coast in their prime (IMHO).

Thanks for putting up the clip of Blondie I used to love the group when I was a teenager but after seeing that clip with what is left of the original group has really made me feel very old(47) but thanks anyway.

Just before I started at Sandhurst in Feb 1981 I went for a week in Amsterdam with a mate from school. We went to the Heineken brewery each morning for the tour (followed by free beer - we soon worked out the best spot to sit) and on 2 nights went to the Paradiso to see the Plasmatics. This was my favourite:

Wendy Williams was grim but the band was good

Black Dog by Led Zeppelin.

Phenomenal song, just a shame that a sleeping small child precludes me from playing it at an appropriate volume.
