Roy Buchannan - hey joe live

hugely underrated (and unlikely looking) guitar genius and 'inventor' and proponent of pinch harmonics

Also

Ben Poole - Hey Joe

one of the finest players to emerge in recent years

As we’re coming up on 3 years since David Bowie died, one of my favourite covers...

Kittie debut album. Hard to believe it's nearly 20 years old. They were 14 when they wrote the songs. So heavy, so raw. Great album.

Coldplay Everglow which I discovered yesterday. Not a coldplay fan at all but cannot stop listening to this track or live performances on youtube. I now hace a big man crush on Chris Martin. He seems like a good guy. I read that the whole band give 10% of their earnings to charity. Obviously this is unlikely to make any material difference to a multi millionaire but commendable nonetheless and certainly not something widely done among the rich from what I have seen and read.

Elton John, 'Blue Moves' album. A double with many lengthy tracks,(6/7/8 minutes). On disc two a few tracks are a bit maudlin, but none the worse for that.

It’s so early it almost seems late. It’s dark. I’m commuting and the mood is definitely: Been Down So Long

Not to say there isn't good music today or in any decade, but I'm so glad to have been a teen in the the 60s.
F fabulous time to have been alive.
So going through a lot of my old stuff that survives and (so far) not been sold on the 'bay.
Like this.

Sharon was a great singer. First ever white singer (South African) to be signed by Stax Records she recorded with Isaac Hayes and Booker T & The MGs in Memphis in 1966, the first non-American artist to do so. She recorded lots of records. Most famous is the above, which was originally intended to be the B side of 'Stay With Me' but it was quickly flipped to the A side after receiving massive airplay on the continent.
The British rock progressive psychedelic group 'The Fleur de Lys' backed her, as they did on several other records - the unusual thing was that they were not even credited, which is odd considering besides Sharon's great voice, they make the record. Sharon even married one of them, producer if I recall.
She sadly died a couple years back aged 72.
You knew it would be a hit with Bryn Haworth's incredible guitar work (he co-wrote it) and many mistakenly thought it was Jimmy Page playing!

Just a lil ole Smiths tune. Possibly having a dig in style at the ‘80’s soul/funk thing that seemed to be taking over

Been listening to the Fabulous Thunderbirds ( Jimmie Vaughan) the last few days.

They have made some good stuff.

Let it Be. The Beatles. The remix 'As it Should have sounded'. Not the original production and mix by Phil Spector.
