I am not a massive metal fan but that is excellent, how does one define that intelligently crafted but heavy music genre from that tosh by overkill linked above? Incessant drumming with little variation, tuneless guitars, bad 6th form lyrics and one of those shrieking metal singers that makes me laugh and cringe simultaneouslyhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epkG-xSYaHA&fea...

Rammstein "Los" (Live from the Volkerball concert)
A nice surly acoustic number from that little ol' band of big German pyros!

I'm really late to the party in discovering his music but right now I just can't get the John Butler Trio out of my head. JB's 12-minute 11-string instrumental,"Ocean" is just some of the most mesmerising guitar work I've ever heard. His sound isn't easily won, he uses a good array of pedals and amps to get his electro-acoustic-rock-folk-classic sound. This piece at times sounds like classic spanish guitar, at others like alt-rock - just incredible...

I love that song, never let anyone say the Krauts don't have a sense of humour. Rammstein "Los" (Live from the Volkerball concert)

Rammstein have been sticking the middle finger up at all those death metal bands that take themselves too seriously for bloody years

Neverreally "got" Tool. To me, they noodle too much and never really got the point. They've been a significant influence on a great many other bands, however, who seem to have taken what Tool do and work it -very cleverly- in to songs that actually seem to have some sort of point whereby they actually resolve themselves somehow. With the exeption of some tracks on 10,000 Days (which I really like), Tool's song just seem to start, get a bit clever for a while, and then finish. But maybe that's just me.
Anyway, I'm listening to some Jeff Buckley right now.

J:Kenzo album at the moment, not sure if I am 'in' or not.
Afterwards I am going for the new Blut Aus Nord album Cosmosophy
There's a few Tool songs I really like, 'Vicarious' and 'Right in Two' probably being my favourites, but most I am quite indifferent to.
