Alphabeat made some bangers. This is arguably even poppier and cheesier than Fascination.

Don't think anything can top the 80's for pop classics

Video killed the radio star - Buggles stands out for me, not my fav but a great pop song.

I guess it depends on your definition of 'pop'. If slightly cheesy and annoyingly catchy you have:

Macarena: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiBYM6g8Tck

La la La: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c18441Eh_WE

And even:

Barbie Girl: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyhrYis509A

from the recent crop, Shake it Off is up there:

No question. It's one of a very small number of songs in the history of pop music that a huge number of people can recognise from a single beat (or maximum two). It's genius.
That can't be the original, it's a cover by some black dude hehe

Surely the best pop record ever produced is one that the majority of people still know the words to? The ones that are still relatively popular.

I might upset a few people here, but the only bit of 'Club Tropicana' I know is the bit where he sings 'Club Tropicana'. hehe

IMO, of course.

Boys Don't Cry - The Cure. It's short (a must for a good pop record, anything over 2m45s is a no no), punchy, great tune, simple but meaningful lyrics you can remember and sing along to. Just the perfect pop song.

It would be so nice if Holiday by Madonna was considered! Although we could be waiting all night long for somebody to suggest Lionel Richie!

Another one for Billie Jean here.

Although I could argue for any number of Beach Boys tracks above it.

Not a Megan Trainor size hit but Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott - DIY is I think a pretty good pop song. He's got form tbh.

Likewise I could argue for about 10 Pet Shop Boys efforts from the classic West End Girls to more modern Love Etc.

Or Parklife.

It's too hard. What I do know is it isn't Bohemian Rhapsody.
