Glastonbury 2017....who's going?
Discussion
Bloody hell you lot.
2011 is the last and only time that I have been and its not for a want of trying thereafter, this morning myself and the wife were sat in the lounge with two laptops and 2 tablets and not a sniff, I had to shoot for work at 9:40 so left the wife trying but as I haven't heard from her I guess she didn't have much luck
EDIT; nope, she didn't get any.

A mate of mine lives around the corner from me and never manages to get tickets. I seem to manage each year, generally without much of a problem. I don't think that I should ever move, otherwise it might all change. 2011 is the last and only time that I have been and its not for a want of trying thereafter, this morning myself and the wife were sat in the lounge with two laptops and 2 tablets and not a sniff.
As my son plays there every year, I'm in the fortunate position of not having to indulge in this mad scramble. Didn't go this year as it was bound to rain and didn't find the bill particularly strong. As it turned out, the lad cried off as his baby son was taken seriously ill.
Next year? I'll decide when I see who's playing, although the odds are I will, as it may well be the last one at Pilton Worthy.
Major problem is, the campervan I used to blag has been sold.

I'm going, but through no luck of my own - couldn't get within a sniff of the booking page either yesterday, or for a coach package on Wednesday.
Fortunately a mate up north had my registration details and was able to get in and bag me one a few minutes before it sold out.
It'll be my ninth successive time, fallow year in 2018, then see what happens (relocation?) from 2019.
That works well for me - I go by motorbike, send my tent ahead of me with mates to pitch, I roll up at 10am Friday ready for it all to kick off.
There's no traffic woes by then, and the secure bike park is close to pedestrian gate 'A'.
For ticketing I would much prefer a raffle style system, where those registered get drawn out of the hat and made an offer to buy (maybe up to 4?) tickets for them and other register people. Any not taken up by a given date then go into a general sale pool, so we'd have yesterdays rush but on a smaller scale, much like they do with the resale now.
That would be fairer, from the point of view of people who can't ever seem to get them, but I suspect the Eavis's likes the hype that it generates. My first year in 2008 wasn't a sell out until the very last minute, I remember umming and ahhing for a week over whether to get a ticket, no such chance of that now!

got in twice and got two lots of tickets for our group. Everyone else didn't even get past the holding page.
Bloody seetickets crashing yet again didn't really help.
I'm going for daft punk, radio head and stone roses to headline with either Elton or Cher on the Sunday afternoon morgue slot

Can any web techies explain how it all works - I'm old skool, working on mainframes.
They have 160,000 tickets for sale. Estimates are that 2,000,000 people are all simultaneously hitting the same website, often with multiple devices/multiple tabbed browsers.
How would the website 'queue' these requests? Is there a clicky I could read about how popular websites manage (or try to manage) heavy inbound traffic like this?

will be there again, 13th or 14th year I think, but thankfully I don't have to run the online gauntlet
much as I love Stone Roses I am not sure I want to sit through Brown's live singing again
Many years ago, I went to a gig in Manchester just around the time that he decided to start play Stone Roses songs. He came on after midnight, after a day of drinking that started at 8am....(It was Carling Live 24 Hours, and I had tickets to all events).much as I love Stone Roses I am not sure I want to sit through Brown's live singing again
He played 4 Roses songs off the bat and it's in my all time favourite gigs. I didn't notivce his voice. Years later I saw him at Glastonbury and it wasn't great. A shame, as he's a lovely guy. I've met him a few times.
I'll make sure I'm well oiled before I hear him sing again.
