Went to see Take That last night in Birmingham with some reservations, but since my Wife loves them....
I have to admit they were brilliant and I'd go again in a blink.
And the support band All Saints? Definite Milf smile

Saw Imelda May at the Ipswich Regent on Thursday evening.
First night of the new tour and she was superb, although I think she upset a few in the audience by mainly playing songs from the newest album and not much of the older stuff.
I was happy though- much prefer the new more bluesy sound.

The support act - Jack Lukeman - was also a revelation. An amazingly wide vocal range, demonstrated with an acapella performance of Hallelujah.

Tickets to see the reformed Royal Trux in Brighton at the end of May. Used to love them back in the day but never saw them live. Should be good.

Seafret last night, with Lewis Capaldi in support. Lewis was really good, and Seafret were excellent. Less excellent were the chaps who had no idea who Seafret were, and were doing their best to ruin the gig for everyone else! Didn't think much to Thekla either... Have they ever cleaned their floor?

Remaining for this year...

Jun - System of a Down @ Download Festival, Donington Park
Aug - Stereophonics / Feeder @ Victorious Festival, Portsmouth
Oct - Amber Run @ o2 Academy, Oxford
Nov - The Smyths @ Komedia, Bath

Lots of Royal Blood gigs being announced of late...

Not sure if I fancy seeing them at Allly Pally after two years ago in Oxford.....

Dont enjoy the bigger venues at all anymore sadly.

Blimey, is that how close it is?
I'd love to go to Slane Castle for a gig it just looks epic.

If you see strange old men hanging around the black tour trucks, give them my love.

Have a friend doing support for London, so will try and blag a ticket.

Shudder.
There is a lot of music venues are now focussing on tribute acts. The places are empty for unknown artists and full to see tribute acts. It clearly works for them, but it's not what music venues should be about.

I guess people aren't prepared to shell out money to see a new band with songs they may or may not like .

There's nothing i like better than seeing a opening band win over a crowd , it doesn't happen much but when it does it's magic.

Boy jumps ship and the gospel youth are the last couple i've seen do it.
