Gig Plans - 2017
Discussion
I love the Roses, went to Spike Island, Heaton & Finsbury Park but other than a karaoke tour, what's the point? I understand completely that it'll be a great day out, I just resent coughing up seventy quid odd for 20 20 year old songs, bar the two bang average efforts from last year.
I'd have happily paid to see them tour a new album but this feels cynical to me, a very pricey singalong from a bunch of musical geniuses who squandered their amazing talent in contractual disputes & a miasma of drugs & indolence. It could have been so much more.

Anyone seen The Stone Roses this time round?
WE are going next week - not a great fan of stadium gig either.
Went on Saturday, my first ever stadium gig. Will probably be the last as other that the SR I can't think of anyone I'd go to see in a venue that big. It was a good night and they were great; just a shame that what should have been a great legacy is just based on one brilliant album.WE are going next week - not a great fan of stadium gig either.
Great atmosphere and Sleaford Mods & Blossoms were good support.

I enjoyed the music. A lot of people who didn't seem to know them and were only really there because it was in Camden, I think. I came away liking the support act more though, and the show was unmemorable really. Just adding another one... Pretty excited to see Dizzee live!

Linkin Park gig in Manchester cancelled as the arena is closed until September, personally I'm not that fussed as we saw them in France last week and I think that the new album is dogst, but my girlfriend is a tad miffed that they haven't rescheduled the gig at another venue like several other artists have - small beer in the grand scheme of the situation though, obviously

Two gigs in the last week.
Robbie Williams at Stratford (other half dragged me..). Surprisingly good and certainly knows how to work a crowd. What wasn't good was the chaos getting back to the station - took nearly an hour and a half!
Just got back from the 2nd gig. Elbow @Thetford Forest. Was an utterly superb night with a 2 hour set. Even the car park was far better organised than usual - was out within 40 minutes compared to nearly 2 hours last time.
Only one more planned so far this year - Depeche Mode @ Wembley. Last time I saw them was about 1990ish...

Two gigs in just over 2 weeks.
Last Saturday - ELO at Wembley Stadium - really enjoyed it, as it seems did most of the crowd. Even support from Tom Chaplin (ex Keane frontman) was pretty good.
A week on Sunday - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers + Stevie Nicks, The Lumineers etc - gold circle tickets at British Summer Time, Hyde Park. Looking forward to it.

Have to agree on Elbow, great set, although it did seem like some sort of workout video at times with all the instructions to wave our arms!Robbie Williams at Stratford (other half dragged me..). Getting in was great, but we were nearly an hour stationary before we got out.
Off to see The Maccabees last ever gig at Ally Pally tomorrow night.
A great band I've followed for 10yrs from pubs and fleapit venues, their last two albums have been absolutely outstanding, I'm genuinely saddened they are calling it a day at their height, apparently with no bad blood.
Mrs PT and I have a free babysitter for 24hrs and the gratis loan of a friend's apartment in North London - is gonna be a good night!
