Just been announced, the new album from Roger Waters.

Titled "Is This The Life We Really Want?”

I think it's been 25 years since his last studio album.

Really looking forward to this smile

Yeah, Amused to Death (no, not that ^ one) was 1992 IIRC. Ooh, 25 years of bitter, should he able to strip paint. Can't wait laugh

I remember an old Alas Smith & Jones talking heads piece: (paraphrased of course)

MS: A lot of people don't think Pink Floyd is really Pink Floyd since Roger Waters left.
GRJ: Really? Like who?
MS: Well, Roger Waters mainly.

I know he's been a bit of an angry man, but I'm hoping he's mellowed a bit.

I sincerely hope not. Final Cut is still one of my favourite Floyd albums (or Waters solo album, depending on who you believe) and I still think had it been set to different music wouldn't have disgraced itself as a Crass album*. No-one does impotent fury like The Rog

*I mean that as a good thing, BTW biggrin

He's alright.
On tonights London evening news they had a bit of an interview with Waters and Mason about an up and coming Pink Floyd exhibition in May.

It will be at the V&A.

I've been a fan of his since my childhood days. He could be the angriest person going and I'd still listen and enjoy anything he puts out. smile

(Apart from "Songs from the body", that was utter tripe!)

Excellent news.

Hopefully some live dates in the UK to go along with it, better start saving up. He has live shows in the US running from the end of May till the end of October. So I assume the album will be released before May.

chilistrucker, did you have any luck with the medical board at the DVLA?

Hello Russ.
Still on going and as usual a bit long winded but since the PHSO report at the end of last year things are certainly looking more promising wink
They, (DVLA/DMG) are re investigating my case and have wrote to my then neuro consultant for further details???
Trouble is they refused to listen to him 2 and a half years ago when he told them I was fit to drive, so we will see.......

I take great pleasure in telling them that whatever their final decision is, I will still proceed with launching an official complaint with the Independent Assessor who apparently, (so the PHSO tell me) are very good with these issues smile

The lady at the DMG who is leading my case is very, very helpful and phones me once or twice a week for updates, odd when you consider they did nothing for me pre the PHSO report.

They have taken much more than my licence from me this last 2 and a half years, so I'll keep trying to do everything to get some form of payback wink
All that tour gear you get on the tours, crew clothing, posters, gifts, signed programs etc, etc, I had to see virtually all of it, that hurt. I've missed a few cracking tours as well AC/DC, Metallica, Sabbath, Chilis, etc, etc but such is life. As hard as its been, I am grateful to still be here to tell the tale, it could have been different.

These days I'm just happy to have my Mrs, (an absolute legend) and my dog, its all I need.

Sorry for the waffle, I have had a large whiskey tonight.

Back to Roger, although a quiet man, I always found him to be a lovely fella on the tours and he would often pop in to see how the poker game was going pre show.

Hopefully you'll get there in the end.

There is an interview on PlanetRocks website where RW mentions that the album is still being mixed and the release date of 19th May is mentioned.

That sort of fits in with his tour of the US which kicks off on the 26th May.

Note the familiar 'Have A Cigar' tune. Let's hope the album is a good one, I haven't really been disappointed with any Waters album yet.

Another track released

Déjà Vu - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gf7kMaurLZk

He's supposed to be performing on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which airs on CBS on Monday night. So hopefully some video will appear on Tuesday.

Not much of a surprise since Rog always regretted letting Roy Harper sing on Have A Cigar... said it was more like Elton John and he ought to have done it himself. Odd really considering he seems to be trying to sing this one in the style of a Bowie impersonator hehe

Still, enjoying what I've heard so far.

Album is out today smile

Currently working my way through it, no doubt it'll take a few listens to grow on me but I like it so far.

(Must admit his singing voice hasn't really improved with age)

Agree about the singing voice, not quite William Shatner level of talking over music yet though smile
Really good album, lots of sweary rage and anger at the world, which can only be a good thing
