Hi
Looking to get my son his first electric after 2 years on a 3/4 acoustic
Considering Yamaha 012 & 112, there are one of each for sale locally, but the one advertised as a 112 has the jack socket on the front rather than the end of the body.
Cannot see another like it, is it just a mod or is it something else being passed off as a 112.
TBH the 012 is a little cheaper, comes with a bag and looks (in the photos) like new but I know the 112 is supposed to be a better guitar.
Thanks

Update:
Apparently a previous owner moved the jack socket to the front, maybe to more imitate the Strat.
It's the better spec of the two instruments but I now wonder what else has been meddled with...

I would go for the 112. Give it a look over inside, if it's fine go for it. The alder body and Alnico pickups are worth the extra, and it's a great base for projects in the future too.

Hope the current owner doesn't mind.
The old hole has been "filled and repaired"

You can see where the original jack socket was, been filled, not perfectly. Respray, think it was originally red. Hairline cracks in paint around where the neck bolts to the body.
Current owner bought it this colour, has replaced scratch plate (was white but that has yellowed) replaced back plate also black and replaced tuning pegs with black and both knobs in black too. Original parts available.
Actually sounds, to my untrained ear ok.
Now it's only £75 but is it worth £15 more than an 012 that comes with a bag that we are going to see tomorrow.

Well that didn't turn out quite as expected.
Never got to see the other one as a third one came up for sale locally.
Looks brand new.

I recently found an 012 in a local Cash Converters pretty much mint for 5p under £40 and thought I'd give it a punt and glad I did, its a half decent guitar. I was under the impression there was a coil tap on the HB though but it doesn't seem to have it.
