My breath smells of a thousand fags
And when I'm drunk I dance like me Dad
I've started to dress a bit like him
And early morning when I wake up
I look like Kiss but without the make up
And that's a good line to take it to the bridge.

Will Smith don't have to cuss in his raps to sell records
Well I do
So **** him and **** you too

Always raises a smile from me
If you're going to quote one of the greats then at least get it right. It's:

Eminem's gotta cuss on his raps to sell records
Well me too
So fk Will Smith
Wrong

Today, time to remember the singular brilliance of Mark E Smith..

You could pick almost anything, but one of my favourite Fall tracks is New Face in Hell

Wireless enthusiast intercepts government secret radio band And uncovers secrets and scandals of deceitful type proportions

Aghast goes next door to his neighbor, secretly excited, as
Aforementioned was a hunter whom radio enthusiast wanted
Friendship and favor of

A new face in hell

Nearly a new face in hell!

A muscular, thick-skinned, slit-eyed neighbor is at the table
Poisoned just thirty seconds before by parties who knew of
Wireless operator's forthcoming revelation

A new face in hell!

A prickly line of sweat covers enthusiast's forehead as the
Realization hits him that the same government him and his now
Dead neighbor voted for and backed and talked of on cream porches
Have tricked him into their war against the people who enthusiast
And dead hunter would have wished torture on. A servant of
Government walks in and arrests wireless fan in
Kitchen for murder of his neighbor

A new face in hell!

The dead cannot contradict
Sometimes the living cannot

A new face in hell!

I'm a rock guy, I have long hair and piercings and tattoos...

I'm not ashamed to say that Robbie Williams has some fantastic lyrics.

I totally agree, music snobbery is as bad a wine snobbery, just enjoy it.

And so on to this

Del Amitri said:

In a room next door a couple is fighting
But isn't that just one of love's charms
When moods change as fast as lightning
And fifteen minutes later you're
Lying in each other's arms

And you're gone

They say that it's better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all
But if you sit down and count the cost of
All those losses
There's no profit at all

I haven't quite forgiven them for "Everything counts in large amounts".
How timely!

I head a song first the first time the other day and it was so dreadful I couldn't force myself to turn over. In a first for me it was so bad that I had to keep listing. How perverse. Got home, google the stand out lyric "Everything counts in large amounts" to find that this was depeche mode!

LCD Soundsystem -New York I love You but You're Bringing me Down

"New York I love you but you're freaking me out. There's a ton of the twist but we're fresh out of shout."

Love everything about this song, even the Kermit the frog video .

I'm giving TP&TH a short rest. Can have too much of a good thing! biggrin
Going back through my huge collection of LPs CDs (cassettes even!) and thought, not played this for a while. So I just popped this 1999 CD on and thought these lyrics are different, first track. Has a PH ring to it too!
Not too hard to guess the group, great lead singer, sadly gone.

I was driving to Damascus when a sandstorm rose
The road disappeared and the axle froze
I was low on gas and lower on hope
I covered my eyes and I felt for the rope

The wind was howling and the air it stung
I breathed in dust and it burned my lungs
And through the dust a driver came
Small and twisted and his face was plain

He said love them all
All that you need when your heart is small
Love them all
You're gonna find them when they fall

It was not hard to make him out
He simply spoke while I had to shout
He asked me where you driving child?
His voice was clear but his eyes were wild

I said I'm going to the city
To meet the high and proud
And let them know that anger
Is the nature of the crowd

He said love them all
All that you need when your heart is small
Love them all
You're gonna find them when they fall

Love them all
All that you need when your heart is small
Love them all
You're gonna find them when they fall

He said your words are lost on the dead
When you belong to them
Once I was dead and I knew the words
Of those dry and hollow men

And he took the rope and he hitched me up
Freed me from the dust
And he helped me round the pilgrims up
And lead them to the bus

He said love them all
All that you need when your heart is small
Love them all
You're gonna find them when they fall

Love them all
All that you need when your heart is small
Love them all
You're gonna find them when they fall

Love them all
All that you need when your heart is small
Love them all
You're gonna find them when they fall
