Iggy Pop - looks like he should be dead by now, but still got it.
Saying that, he looked like that 20yrs ago as well..
Can't agree, sorry. He has the attitude and the drive to put on a rockin' performance but vocally he isn't anywhere near up to scratch these daysSaying that, he looked like that 20yrs ago as well..

This man is, however, he sounds bloody magic, if Priest aren't announced for Hellfest I'll have to pay up for a Bloodstock ticket! What a band!New Order,
I have always enjoyed their records - saw a few gigs "back in the day" and they underwhelmed.
have seen them 3 times recently and they have been superb. Manchester Warehouse Project was one of my favourite gigs.
I also saw Sparks a couple of weeks ago. I don't know what they were like in their day but for a couple of 65+ geezers they were amazing.

Morrissey's new single is quite good and he appears to be able to 'sing' as well as he used to.
I like that too. I don't like him, or at least as he presents himself to the world in general, the miserable old git, but the new single is good.desolate said:

Never saw them 'in the day', but I heard a number of people saying that the Brixton gig I went to a couple of years back was 'the best they'd ever been'.I have always enjoyed their records - saw a few gigs "back in the day" and they underwhelmed.

Barney can't (never could) really sing, but as an act, they've still got it, Hooky or no Hooky.
That said, I saw Peter Hook and the Light do the two JD studio albums and it was electric (I didn't enjoy his tour of the first two NO albums as much, but I'm still off to see him in December for the next two! )
I think it's really, really hard to be objective about bands you like. I've seen Martin Fry a few times and really enjoyed it (He can still sing, but the voice and style are different - A mate saw ABC in their heyday and didn't enjoy them), but a lot of it is it the familiarity of tracks that you've known and loved over the years.
However... I did go and see Suzanne Vega last year. Not someone I had a lot of history with or was a huge fan of. She was great and her new stuff was just as good! She definitely can still do it without any doubt casting nostalgia!

I'd go the other way, saw them twice "back in the day" when they were excellent even Barney's vocals. Went to one of the Brixton gigs in 2012 (without Hooky) and they were dire, I swore never to go to another NO gig after that. Having seen Hooky a few times since that's the missing element for me now.Barney can't (never could) really sing, but as an act, they've still got it, Hooky or no Hooky.

Every time I see this thread though I always come to the same conclusion namely... Robert Smith, as good now as he ever was. Been going to The Cure gigs for 30 years, keep going back as they are always a band you can rely on live.

Saw Metallica at the O2 last night.
Sublime, tight instruments and incredible vocals, Hetfield played the crowd really well and they all seemed to love being there.
Haven’t lost it at all, fab evening.
+1 from me. Saw the Birmingham show on Monday. Superb!Sublime, tight instruments and incredible vocals, Hetfield played the crowd really well and they all seemed to love being there.

Fact is almost any band that has been around 15+ years and done hundreds of shows will generally be weaker vocally than they used to be.

Hetfield quite clearly doesn't have a voice like he did though - so he clearly doesn't have 'it' anymore.

Couldn’t disagree more. Seen Metallica and ELO this year and for the first time since I can’t remember when have missed Level 42. All three, haven’t lost anything, including whatever “it” is. 👍🏾Fact is almost any band that has been around 15+ years and done hundreds of shows will generally be weaker vocally than they used to be.

Hetfield has clearly lost a lot of power in his voice.Just listen to Nothing Else Matters or One - nowhere near as good vocally now.
