I'm tagging along with some friends next year to see these guys in concert, and was wondering what would be a good album to put in the car so I'll know some of the words to scream along when the time comes - I've bought Live from Dakota but can barely make out any of the words they're singing !

Any recommendations ?

Thanks

The first two were the best imho:

Word gets around
Performance and Cocktails

But, there are great songs on most of their albums, I'd have thought you are best off with their 'best of' album if you don't know them at all:

Decade in the sun

You might find a recent setlist if you have a search.

Definitely the first two, they were absolutely phenomenal. They kinda went off the boil a bit after that, but I'd agree that there's some decent stuff on all their albums.

The Stereophonics remain the only band I've ever seen live who played songs slower than on the albums though, which I found really weird.

First 2 albums are genuinely great, after that they fall off pretty quickly in terms of toe tapping enjoyment. I saw them live 15 years ago and they played all the good stuff, i doubt they do now.

I remember seeing them live in Cardiff Castle all those years ago.

What a band. Superb.

One of my more recent favourites is “Indian Summer” and “Graffiti on the train”. Their most recent album no idea what it’s called but a song from it is about partying out all night (the lyrics are very good and it’s a great tune).

The song on the last album was "C'est la vie"

Very good best Stereophonics song in years. I agree with the others that the first 2 albums are the best and with the weirdness of some of the songs being slower when heard live. However Dakota is stunning live but not been a fan of the single.

Get "Decade in the Sun: Best of Stereophonics" or "Word gets around". However their new tour is probably going to feature a few off their new album "Scream Above The Sounds".

I've managed to get tickets to see them next week in Cardiff Uni (special small gig) and also Cardiff Motorpoint next year. Saw them years ago in Zurich, Switzerland which was amazing as only in a small nightclub. Kelly's voice is superb in live events.

Saw them in Dundee a few weeks ago on their warm up tour. Great to see them in a small venue, they're a properly good live band.

I can remember seeing them at a radio 1 roadshow, at the local park must have been almost 20 years ago.
What I seem to remember was that there was no one there, it was really weird. Thinking about it further, it may have been local radio?

Anyway, stereophonics went on first, then Symposium (remember them? No? they were crap) then Mark Owen of Take That fame. He was crap too.

I think they played Local Boy to about 20 people, it was brilliant, I practically stood next to Kelly on the stage. Hooked ever since, love them.
Seen them loads of times, i think the best was when they supported James at Wembley Arena, can't remember what year that was.

Nice one, you'll enjoy it I'm sure.

As has already been said - definitely the first two albums, they're the best and they'll play a good few tracks off them.

I've been a fan since their second album came out, looking forward to seeing them again next year. The new album is quite promising from what I've heard.

Fun cover of Brown Eyed Girl on the radio this morning - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05l5r65 - probably the first time I've ever seen Kelly play a bum note in the intro!

Word goes around. Still takes me back to uni when it gets played occasionally.
