Not sure if it is muso or PH approved, but anyone else like tribute band?
Going to see Faux Fighters for the 3rd time in a few weeks. It's a good night out and they seem to be able to play as well. Saw Jon Bovi a few weeks ago and while not a Bon Jovi fan they were bloody brilliant and gave it the big'un right from the off. The guitarist was of the highest order too.
So who have you seen and were they any good?

I started a thread on this ages ago and got very little response.
I've seen loads and some are great, some don't last very long
AC/DC Uk are great but have recently change their singer from Brian Johnson to the other earlier bloke whose name escapes me.
Who's Who are the dogs bits. I though Keith Moon was dead. He's not, he's playing in Who's Who.
The Small Fakers -brilliant.
Too Petty- great but don't seem to do much because they're busy in Fleetwood Bac who I have never seen because I can't stand FM.
Steve Steinman- great Meat Loaf tribute.
Rollin Stoned- a bit of a piss take but excellent musicians
The Billy Joel songbook with Elio Pace-fantastic.
Probably the most professional of all I've seen The Illegal Eagles.
Gotta love tribute bands.

Whilst Im not really a fan, two good mates mine who are very talented muso's play in 2 seperate Trib bands, both of which are "apparently" highly respected.
I saw Whole Lotta Led a while back and they were Ok, The Hamsters I was a huge fan of....
Mate 1 is Guitarist for Oye Santana, and I think they are brill live....

Mate 2 is Drummer for U2Baby, and whilst not a huge U2 fan, he's a great drummer and the band are well regarded.....

I wouldn't call the Hamsters a tribute band. They just played a lot of Hendrix/ZZtop stuff.I saw Whole Lotta Led a while back and they were Ok, The Hamsters I was a huge fan of....

That reminds me , ZZtopps are pretty good too.
I saw a really good Santana band once in Ruislip (actually that's where I've seen most of these bands ) and they were great. Tiny crowd for some reason. I can't recall their name.
Saw Oz Floyd with all their lights and it was OK.
Saw Mcfloyd above a pub in Edinburgh 15 years ago - complete with some black curtains and emergency strip lights, sound and precision was amazing. Much better than the Australian crew!
I know someone who plays in Floyd tribute band in Newcastle. with possibly the best name ever:
Dark Side Of The Toon

Sort of, it's led by son Dweezil, search engine skills need up-brushing Ch! Livewire ACDC. Very good if you get the chance to see them. Two singers, Bon on first then halfway they switch to the Geordie bloke. I've seen both the major Floyd impersonators, they're OK for a one-off. I also understand Limehouse Lizzy are very good, as an earlier PHer has suggested.
