I never hear The Music on the radio these days (listen to Radio X, Absolute etc.)

I can't get my head around it. They're one of those bands who came around 10-20 years ago, did loads of good stuff, and then vanished! Got the first album in the car at the moment, and it's truly great. The tracks are so, so, so well put together, and sound very original.

I mean, come on!!:

I seem to remember they were noted for a use of dance-rhythms and composition in an otherwise indie/rock setting. Big things predicted, and now.......nothing. I know they broke up, but they're NEVER on the radio. The only place I've heard one of their tracks was on the Closer To The Edge film about the I.O.M. TT, and I think that might only be because Guy Martin *could* be a fan (saw a picture of him wearing one of their t-shirts once).

Anyway, guess it's more of a rant than anything. Maybe it's just me, and to everyone it all sounds crap. Honestly, I think they were outstanding! Can't figure out why the tracks don't get any airtime. Surely not an embargo or something?

I saw them live at the Glasgow Barrowlands, they were superb - one of those gigs where the venue suits the band and their sound perfectly, and the performance was top-notch.

I love them but think they're a bit marmite as I tried to get a few mates interested in them who didn't think much of them.

Yes they were. They got virtually no recognition from the media, but I saw them live at Birmingham Academy (The Hummingbird - not the new one) in About 2004 I guess. They absolutely ripped the roof off the place. They were a bit of a cult band though and had a hard core following but outside of that nobody really knew them.

I think the singer had a lot of personal problems and they just seemed to fade away quickly after the 2nd album from what I can remember.

I saw them at Bedford Squires about 16/17 years ago. Very Good but could never see it crossing over to a mainstream audience. I think the lead singer was doing something with Mike Skinner from the streets recently.

Yes, I loved The Music - the singer and guitarist were both great. I never got to see them live sadly, but they did three solid albums and some of their instrumental jams were really good too.

It is a shame they were not bigger than they were. One of my favourite tracks by them which this thread has reminded me of:

They are not forgotten.

I can never work out the lyrics to the chorus of Getaway: don't tell, I enjoy the mystery. Whilst I rock out.

This thread prompted me to listen to some of their stuff, and reminded me how amazing the instrumental hidden track at the end of the Strength in Numbers album is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEO8yEjd-GE (and the album's preceding closing track 'Inconceivable Odds' is strong too)

Amazing band and the lead singer had an incredible and unique voice. Love the acoustic version of Getaway.

Saw them live at Blackpool Winter Gardens. King of Leon were their support!
