Was browsing youtube recently and watched Holly Johnson singing power of love and it was pretty terrible so got me thinking who's still got it and whose lost it.

Peter Gabriel's recent stuff i find pretty good and would like to see him live.

Michael Aday/meatloaf has lost it completely, even his backing singers complain about his tune and timing.

Stevie Wonder, still sings songs he recorded 40 years ago at the same pitch.

Channel surfing the other night, I landed on “The Graham Norton Show”, I’m not a rabid fan, but I hung on and watched Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Melissa McCArthy, and Emma Stone.
At the end, he brought on Rick Astley, who I thought made a good job of “Never gonna give you up” years ago, but I wouldn’t have queued for tickets to see him, although both my daughters-in-law think he’s okay, my elder DIL is German, and went to see Mr. Astley in Hanover years ago, while my son stayed home to keep an eye on the kids.
Anyway, Rick sang his new song, “Try”, and I thought that his voice was more than okay, just my 2 cents.

Neil diamond’s voice is still perfect, even as an old man.

A few years ago he was headlining a local to me festival, I really wanted to see him and was gutted as I was working but I hoped to get out early, unfortunately I couldn't get out so I missed him, however the wife said he was awful.

Contentious one here but I’d say Bono. Saw U2 at the O2 on Tuesday and I was really surprised how great they sounded including Bono’s voice. I was a bit dubious after seeing their Glastonbury set a few years ago, although their Abbey Road gig for the BBC did give me some hope. But I was very pleasantly surprised, great vocals.

I saw Phil Collins around a year ago and expected the worst when he hobbled on stage and perched himself on a stool, leaving the drumming to his young son (who was excellent). His voice however was superb, I wouldn't say I was a big fan before and just fancied seeing him and was really impressed.

Conversely, saw Kenny Rogers in the same venue about a year before, he also hobbled onstage but his voice is shot and I actually felt bad for him as unless he needs the money he seemed like he'd rather have been sitting in his rocking chair back home.

I clicked this thread to post just this. Saw him at Wembley, think it was two years ago. Absolutely magnificent, tear inducing joy.

Saw The Who at Glastonbury in 2015 & his voice was really poor. It's deepened an octave & still loud & angry, but his upper range has gone completely & rather than hit a lower note & have a backing singer fill in over the top (Entwhistle could clearly still hit the high/falsetto notes), he just either paused or missed by miles. Fair enough if it was an on off night/sore throat, but disappointing. Roger Waters & Robert Plant in the last couple of years were both surprisingly good.

JE died in 2002 and I don't think he ever sang falsetto. It's Entwistle by the way. I think you either have no idea what you're talking about or you're mistaking Pete Townshend for John Entwistle which also, suggests you have no idea what you're talking about.
In summary, JE is dead, you think he sang falsetto, you're probably mistaking Pete. Townshend for him.
Roger Daltrey is 74. That's pretty old for a guy to be singing like that.
Don't like it? Don't go. Personally I'd crawl a mile over broken glass to hear one of the greatest rock singers .

The last time I saw The Who was 2014 at the Abu Dhabi F1, admittedly it was the start of their tour, but even so DaltrEy was 70 and was on absolute top form, one of the best gigs I've ever seen them play, the part where they did a tribute to Entwistle and Moon was awesome/emotional too.
