As a big Metallica fan, it really saddened me when I got directed to Kirt and Rob making an absolute fking farce of a prince song.

Just what the fk was they thinking, clearly James and Lars wanted no part in it...

Do we have any takers for a worse cover by a professional band/artist?

Without a doubt, the Strawberry Fields Forever cover from the early nineties.

As if the butchery of that song wasn't bad enough, we get a gurning chimp to look at while we watch the video.

Death's too good for 'em...

When Metallica invite Jason back into the fold, I will start listening to them again. Who the heck thought having a Mexican monkey bass player crawling round the stage like he was having a siezure would be a good idea? I love Metallica but they are just embarrassing now with that guy.

They do it a lot better than All Saints, that's for sure. I remember going to the cinema to watch Jackie Brown (I think) and they played the full video of the All Saints hatchet job - I nearly choked on my El Presidente hot dog.

Yet his cover of "Common People" was awesome (admitedly helped by Ben Folds rocking his balls off smile)

Apologies. With the exception of Jeff Buckley.

Metallica's take on Whisky in the Jar was dire too.

Our guitarist thinks it's great. Never understood it myself

I am a Metallica fan of sorts but their covers suck.

I would have to disagree.

The $5.98 E.P.: Garage Days Re-Revisited album was brilliant IMO.

All covers.

And all are dreadful, unimaginative plodders in comparison to the originals imho

Harry Styles - The Chain.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eM_FR7I2Ttw
Alright, he has a good voice and it's not bad for a cover and prob nowhere near the worst cover ever, but to do it like Buckingham (did) that's hard!
And yes I know Harry loves the song.

However, Neil Finn has substituted Buckingham well, he has a half decent voice to fill the gap with this special PH song.
Anyway, nobody can do Mac songs as well as them, even with changed line ups, which have happened ever since I first saw them back in the late 60s.

Here are the new line-up, with the other brilliant addition of Mike Campbell, doing it last month in Canada -
all in HD hehe
ie: complete -from distance- and with all the background audience sound and people getting up and down from their seats from crappy mobile phone footage.
Can't wait to see them here next June.

William Shatner's 'Mr Tambourine man'.

Oddly, his cover of 'Common People' has a certain appeal.
