I was once unfortunate enough to hear Cliff Richard's version of "Scarlet Ribbons". I'll say no more than that. Seek it out at your peril.

William Shatner's 'Mr Tambourine man'.

Oddly, his cover of 'Common People' has a certain appeal.
His cover of Garbageman is pretty menacing as well, considering he was eighty-six when he recorded it...

As a big Metallica fan, it really saddened me when I got directed to Kirt and Rob making an absolute fking farce of a prince song.

Just what the fk was they thinking, clearly James and Lars wanted no part in it...

Do we have any takers for a worse cover by a professional band/artist?
Metallica's take on Whisky in the Jar was dire too.
Our guitarist thinks it's great. Never understood it myself
I am a Metallica fan of sorts but their covers suck.
They did a damn good version of Breadfan though...

Not as good as Budgie's IMHO.
Too much Hetfield machismo in Metallica covers IMHO.

Toss up between Mariah Carey's "Without You" and Paul Young's "Love Will Tear Us Apart"

Much as I hate Ms Carey, I think Paul just shades it...

Hugh Reed and the Velvet Underpants - White Light White Heat.
Anxxxxxl cyyynt (replace x with a and y with u) - Last Christmas.
Guns and Roses - Live and Let Die. Not one should ever be allowed to publise Maccas work, he should have gone with Lennon.

I would have to disagree.

The $5.98 E.P.: Garage Days Re-Revisited album was brilliant IMO.

All covers.
I'm inclined to agree there, I have a vinyl copy of this the full five track one and the covers on there are excellent. In fact there were some great covers on Garage Inc which they released in the late 90s. Not all great but some damn good ones.

I actually quite like their cover of Queen's, Stone Cold Crazy. Can't say their cover in the first post is particularly good, hopefully they weren't taking themselves too seriously. You'd hope!

I'm surprised this is not already on here - and its a stretch as the person singing co-wrote the song. But if you can find a worse annihilation of a classic song I'd be surprised!

Irritatingly, it's not just Christmas adverts. Looking at you, Lloyds Bank/You're Not Alone.

The worst I've heard is on a budget CD called A Reggae tribute to The Beatles.

Hey Jude was frankly appalling. Laughably bad.

FWIW I prefer Live and Let Die by GNR than the original Wings version but both are good.

That horrible No Doubt version of Talk Talk's 'It's My Life' - utterly pointless.

Wet, stripped back, anaemic 'music'. I long for the day advertisers bin the fad for this kind of dross.
