William shatner is not a professional musican though as per the query by the original poster.

Joy Division cover of Russ Abbott never lived up to the hype somehow

The video has aged well though.

I'm surprised this is not already on here - and its a stretch as the person singing co-wrote the song. But if you can find a worse annihilation of a classic song I'd be surprised!

Oh my dear heart. It's the kind of thing that would end up on an x-factor first round comedy exits compiliation.
Why did it happen, why? Why was it allowed to happen? Why did God allow it to happen? Why?

Irritatingly, it's not just Christmas adverts. Looking at you, Lloyds Bank/You're Not Alone.
Wet, stripped back, anaemic 'music'. I long for the day advertisers bin the fad for this kind of dross.
I actually like some of that kind of thing, done well. I think Steve Hughes' description fits:
"How can you hate Enya? It's just silence coloured in."

Mike Flowers Pop. Wonderwall.

Especially as it was the same time British Indie was in full swing.

Will Young’s cover of Light My Fire.

Did he win Pop Idol or come second? I don’t care. He brings his own brand of whining and whinging to everything he sings and this cover was truly appalling.

Cant stand the Robbie Williams/Trevor Horn cover of Tears for Fears "Everybody wants to rule the world"

Great 80's song turned into something that sounds like a bad show tune!

Bit of an odd one, I'm not sure it was ever supposed to be good, I always felt the intention was a slightly crummy bit of musical satire.

Destiny's Child's cover of "Emotion" by the Bee Gees has to be right up there.

Horrific.

All Saints - Under The Bridge.

The intro has been butchered. Then someone starts singing in a completely different key, and it doesn't get any better from there.

I see this was covered on P1.

Mexican monkey? Really?!

Rolf Harris - Stairway to Heaven? laugh

Weezer's recent Africa cover was an odd one. Whilst not the worst ever, it was weirdly dull and clinical with nothing of the band's own stamp on it when I think they could have done something a bit different.
