Great stuff. I generally record at Angel, using a Neve 88RS.

I no longer look hippy st mind (though I did once) smile

Did hippies have mullets and stonewash jeans? hehe
I certainly did!

Good one!
I've worked for Electric Lady, Air (when it was on Oxford Circus), jobs for Air Montserrat.
I got a few T's on my rounds and now collect them.

In the dim and distant past I was in a band and would throw in this song if we were running short of material to finish a set.

The vocalist always sang “my father was a tailor, sewed my new blue jeans. Inevitably followed by “my mother was a gamblin man, down in New Orleans”

It's never been the same after the John Otway treatment !
I wondered if anyone would reference the brilliant Otway version!
It's worth going to see John Otway just for the audience participation version of House of the Rising Sun. Belting that out at the top of your voice in company with several hundred like-minded souls is extraordinarily liberating. The rest of the concert is a bonus.

As it is a traditional song you shouldn't try to be too prescriptive about the lyrics which would have been handed down from one player to another and likely changed over the years according to interpretation.

See, for example the Fairport Convention version of "Matty Groves" and listen to "Shady Grove" the american folk song, plainly from the same original material but changed over the years.

Great song. It's running through my brain just reading the lyrics.
Very long song for the times. First played in full on Saturday Club with Brian Matthew.
