Group who (massively) disappointed live
Discussion
I was just listening to Avenged Sevenfold and I was struck by how I like their studio stuff compared with how dire I thought they were when I saw them live (being supported by Disturbed who were, quite frankly, incomparably better)
Another group I was hugely disappointed with was Alter Bridge - to be fair not being as good as Halestorm and Shinedown isn't necessarily a bad thing. What is bad though is they were boring.
Let's hear of your disappointments

Alter bridge are one of the most boring bands I have ever seen live, seen them headine and seen them at festivals and always the same.Another group I was hugely disappointed with was Alter Bridge - to be fair not being as good as Halestorm and Shinedown isn't necessarily a bad thing. Nina Simone at Bishopstock 2001. She spent the first 20 minutes pacing the stage growling, "All right..." Guy in front of me said to his mate, "Wow, she really knows how to work a crowd!" No she didn't, she was total crap. Mind you, Jimmy Smith was no better; he didn't show up at all and the venue went bust less than a month later. Best part of £100 wasted grrrrr...
Primal Scream.
Couple of decades ago. Got in to the hall nice and early... a Primal Scream track blaring over the PA to warm up the crowd. Then another, and another, with nothing else playing apart from Primal Scream's greatest hits, TWICE at gradually increasing volume. Eventually the band made it to the stage, looking wasted and as if they really couldn't be arsed, and launched (ok, lurched) into a set of Primal Scream's greatest hits (which we'd just heard - twice) but not played as well...
First and only concert I've found myself checking my watch and thinking I could get the earlier train home.

Solid Air is such a beautiful album.
Live in the 90s, John Martyn appeared on stage dressed as a tramp, ignored the audience, argued with his guitar tech and drummer between tracks, and rushed through the set like he had to catch the last bus home.
I couldn't listen to the album for years afterwards.

The Beach Boys years ago in Manchester I think.
The Eagles at Huddersfield, also years ago. Just like above, the sound was dreadful - you heard them twice; once properly then again after it bounced off the back of the stadium
Oh and The Kings of Leon at Sunderland who were an hour late having had a fight on the plane on the way up.
