One of the tracks that really bridges between old and new school. Would fit in a classic set along with a late 2000s one, and still getting remixed.

That's a great track. Thinking back I had a bit of an absence from the scene I did the late 90s early 2000s clubbing scene and got a bit more into techno after that but there was a particular track that brought me fully back to trance from 2008 and I still remember it coming on during a ride down to Silverstone for a car show. I'm not really a huge A&B fan although they do have an amazing body of work but this is one of the best

https://youtu.be/GrOy-0wBlGo

Had a second wind going back out clubbing for a while around 08 to probably 2013. Still get out occasionally now at almost 43!

Key with A&B for trance is to avoid A&B as a ‘project’. I love them, but most of their trance was under other projects like Tranquility Base and Oceanlab. Exceptions for Alone Tonight, and some of their own remixes like Good for Me.
High points: On A Good Day (vocal), Beautiful Together (vocal), Oceanic, Razorfish, Surrender.

Edit: Sky Falls Down! What a track.

My God.

Thanks for the memories!
Late Eighties/early Nineties for me.
First real experience at Torpedo town Liphook in about 1990.
May have been a year before or after. I don’t remember much of that time.

Great music, great drugs.

Also a big trance fan and spent the late 90s / early 00s frequenting clubs most weekends, also used to dabble on the decks.

This is one of favourite trance tunes, Planet Heaven - Nautical Bodies:

One of my favourite record labels from this era was Platipus, they released some great stuff:

Oakenfold 1999, still frequently played, absolutely love it.
I happened to be there that night, Lotherton Hall if I remember, it went off. The Space Brothers remix that comes in about 29 min mark still gives me goosebumps over 20 years later. hehe

I can only imagine how amazing this would have been. Lucky you!

Oakenfold Cream Resident has to be the best compilation. A true work of art mix that is. Comes out every summer that one!

That’s a fabulous Oaky set!

I think Oakenfold got looked down on as a bit of a ‘commercial DJ’ once he started the radio 1 stuff, but he really was one of the very best live DJs I’ve ever seen - I must have seen him 20+ times, mostly at Cream and he had a proper talent for playing a crowd.

Fabulous musical taste too.

Yeah there's no doubt he was a pioneer and was one of the top DJs in the world for a long time sadly only saw him a few times one of which was at Gatecrasher and he was completely mullered that was not a classic set!

Oliver Klein - Rheinkraft thats a very underground anthem that one. I ended up with just about every release on Maelstrom on 12"

I'm sure you'll be aware of this but this was one of the awesome Mixmag cover CD mixes Timo Mass did

It's a banger isn't it?! Subtle, but an absolute banger. Ideal for early trance sets

That was a superb cover CD, and you just knew before you even played it that it would be a good one! Rheinkraft is again, a perfect early trance set track

I have that CD. Their cover CDs were for a while amazing
Better even than "for profit" releases.

Technical note, not tying to ruin anyone's buzz here,

But...... lots of melodic house on this thread and separately lots of Trance.

3am, lights low, everybody climbing to another plane- Trance

Eg https://youtu.be/Un4CeV_l3pI

Hardfloor - Acperience

OK that's acid techno trance

Slightly O/T but this is arguably the finest one absolute brilliance from Jeremy Healey

Has a bit of Josh Winx about it, as did many tunes of that era. Before my time so sadly I have little apprecation for it
