Under appreciated albums

An amazing album, many comment that the stage show was needed to appreciate the music
The album was way ahead of its time and has stood the test of time yet never reached great heights

Thanks for reminding me about the Tubes, almost forgotten these days...
Nice stuff, a little like a watered down FZ with a little more showtime elements (not to be meant to belittle them!), good musicians and cool songs, that certain 70s swag, great.

Sure is blast it out music with a difference
Now and again still sing the following to my partner for a laugh
The smell of burning leather
As we hold each other tight
As our rivets rub together
Flashing sparks into the night
At this moment of surrender darling
If you really care
Don't touch me there

Thank you for the linkNicely done, wish I was there, wish I could go back in time
Noticed Wilko Johnson was also performing, can you remember how good he was?

There are few things that give me more pleasure in life than singing along to White Punks On Dope, and keeping on singing during the fade out, and coming in perfectly on time when the song fades back in.
Brilliant album.

Ha, I was playing this yesterday, I thought I was the only bugger who had ever heard of it.

Good to know, brilliant track from a brilliant album, you've obviously got it to a fine artThere are few things that give me more pleasure in life than singing along to White Punks On Dope, and keeping on singing during the fade out, and coming in perfectly on time when the song fades back in.

White Punks is going to be blasted out in the morning, too late for now, not played it recently, could play it low volume now but that would be like an insult

Holidays in Eden - Marillion. Hardline Marillion fans decided it would be crap as a result of no Fish but personally I think it's one of their finest (we used to play No One Can though Headphones on my OH tummy when she was pregnant with our daughter. That song is one of our daughter's favourites and will be the one we will dance to for the Dad and Bride dance at her wedding in September).
Couldn't agree more. There are some Marillion fans who are really sniffy about HIE - they're usually the muppets who shout "Grendel" at Marillion shows - because it's perhaps their most 'poppy' album. Well, I think it's a damned fine album.Holidays in Eden - Marillion. 'Splintering Heart' is a great opener to a show, the '100 Nights' trilogy is fantastic, and the only song I'm not keen on is the title track.
I thought Mrs. BF and I were the only ones for whom "No One Can" was 'our song'; it seems not. Can't wait to see the boys again in May at the Leicester convention.
I'm also a fan of Holidays In Eden, although personally I prefer Seasons End, the first of the Hogarth era Marillion albums.
I went to see Fish on his first solo tour, when he released the Vigil In A Wilderness of Mirrors album.
Now that's another underappreciated gem in my opinion. The song 'Family Business' in particular on that album is piercingly good. I have the album on cassette but I've been trying to find it on CD (for a reasonable price) for years.

For me it is probably Axe Victim by Be Bop Deluxe
Thought they were a great band the first time I heard them and that album but never got the recognition they deserved in my view.
IIRC (it was a long time ago) when I saw them as the support act to Sailor (went specifically to see BBD not Sailor) they got an encore. That may be my memory playing tricks though.
Wow, now there’s a band - my favourite album by them is probably Live! In the Air Age - a brilliant live album with bonus EP including Shine instrumental. A very underrated band - saw them live on their Drastic Plastic tour which was when they changed musically & for me a backward step. Bill Nelson then formed Red Noise which I went to see live - again not as good as the earlier stuff. Bill Nelson is still a prolific songwriter & apparently has a convention in Leeds every year. Wished I’d seen them when Sunburst Finish was out.Thought they were a great band the first time I heard them and that album but never got the recognition they deserved in my view.

Selling England By The Pound - Genesis
When I was younger I think I was about the only person who even knew of it, let alone loved it. I was 9 when I first heard it (thank you cousin Shelagh)
Over time it’s become more appreciated, but for a long time it was seen as Poundland prog.
Even now I’d suggest it’s an under-loved gem. Needs a lot more listening to.

Simple Minds' "Sons and Fascination", an absolute stormer of an album, well ahead of it's time.
Every tune is pure gold and every time I here that slightly off key bass introduction I know it's gonna be alright.
I second this. It's a brilliant album. Every tune is pure gold and every time I here that slightly off key bass introduction I know it's gonna be alright.
Their more recent stuff often gets overlooked. Big Music and Walk Between the Worlds are fine Albums too.
