The John Martyn Project at the end of April.

And also Grayson Perry (not sure that really counts as Gig however laugh)

Glasgow Hydro - though Eden sounds like a stunning location to see them at.

I saw them in April this year at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange and they were superb despite it being a pretty crappy venue.

Orbital - Good Friday, Rock City, Nottingham.

Scarily, the last time I saw Orbital at Rock City will have been 30 years ago. They've aged well. Me ? Not so much

Pulp is my wife's favourite band, and I quite like them too, so we got tickets for their London and Sheffield dates. That's the only time I've ever waited at a computer for the exact moment tickets go on sale. Supporting will be Richard Hawley and Wet Leg, who I would never miss the opportunity to see.

So far, British Lion 13th January and Hollywood Vampires 7th July, both in Swansea.
I was tempted by Iron Maiden in either Birmingham or London but having seen them many times I decided to give them a miss this time round.

Little man tate in May.
Crikey, that's a blast from the early-2000s past! I used to love 'House Party At Boothy's', great track, although 'Man I Hate Your Band' was a tad sniping, not very cool, somewhat landfill indie!

I'm a tad light on gigs at the moment, only got The Smyths in Reading tomorrow night. It's a little bit strange that a Smiths tribute band are celebrating their 20th anniversary of performing the songs of a band that were themselves only active for 5 years. I actually prefer the fake Morrissey to the real one these days.

Also on the horizon are The Hold Steady in Camden in march and three festivals: Glastonbury, Latitude and End Of The Road.

Peat and Diesel at Banchory Town Hall (more like a church hall) on Saturday… should be fun and has the potential for being absolutely mental.

About 15 years ago I saw the Arctic Monkeys at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney, a great combination of the right band in the right venue - and it is rightly a legendary venue.

Now, my two daughters are both Arctics fans, so we’re going to see them at an open air stage in The Domain in January. Should be fun, unless La Niña gets up to her usual tricks….
Well, turns out to have been nearly 17 years since I saw the Arctics, sometime in 2006.

And last night’s gig was fun - midsummer, open air in a park in the middle of Sydney. The band played a great set though to me it looked like they were having more fun playing the faster tunes than some of the newer stuff, but that could just be what I’m seeing…

Support was from two local groups. The Buoys are an all-female rock/pop/indie outfit that reminded me a bit of Lush - fun.

The second was The DMA’s which always remind me of a weird mashup of Oasis and Coldplay, and for all the guitars and drums and lyrics, seem just a little bit dull.

Overall, top night out - and as this was their first ever gig, have set the bar for future gigs for PBJnrs 1 & 2

So far we’ve only got Rumours of Fleetwood Mac to look forward to in June at Gateshead sage. Not far away.

And we are about to book this in Lisbon for July.

I was booking for the Black Keys then I did a double take when I saw the Chilli Peppers are on the same day.
We are gonna hire a car after that and explore Portugal for a week or two.
I’ve only been once to Porto, to see Radiohead.

Sleaford Mods, Rock City 14 March 2023. And their new album. For less than £30 the pair. Bargain.
