He was told by the novelist Polly Samson via Twitter that you are anti-Semitic to your rotten core you are also a Putin apologist and a lying, thieving, hyocritical, tax-avoiding, lip-synching, misogynistic, sick-with-envy, megalomaniac
Wow. Say it like it is Polly, don't hold back!https://twitter.com/PollySamson/status/16225137626...

It's possible he's a bit of a drug addled tit, and her accusations may be true, but people who bandy about pejorative terms without backing them up, simply to slur someone, come across as a bit disingenuous to me. Like I said, she may be right, in which case she'd be better served by learning how to express herself more coherently.

To be fair a bbc article representing their version of his opinion is not really going to give anyone an accurate representation. I’d always heard reports he is a tit, but I listened to a podcast where he explained his thoughts and he articulated them in a totally different way to these articles and actually seemed a pretty reasonable fellow.
Always better to hear it from the horses mouth instead of forming an opinion from a headline.

He seems to be stuck in the mode of angry teenager, always lashing out, moody and determined to be the one who can see through the bs that his elders are blind to. Except that he’s a pensioner and really should have grown up.
His letters are arch whatabouttery and miss the very simple but crucial point: Putin is not someone who you can negotiate with, except from a position of strength. He’s demonstrated that time and again. It takes a lot to unite Europe but an egotistical madman with a delusional self belief did it.
Oh and what Blair and Bush did or didn’t do in Iraq, or America’s support of Israel, or Kosovo etc etc all have sweet FA to do with any assessment of the right course of action over Ukraine.
Agree about Rick Wright by the way - genius. Also Nick Mason is criminally underrated as a ‘musical’ drummer, so many others would have just smothered Floyd’s tracks with unnecessary frippery.

I wouldn't question the talent Roger Waters has as a musician or say that all of his opinions are deluded or just plain wrong, however as others have noted in this thread he falls into the trap of believing his wealth and fame somehow makes his opinions more valid and informed than those which us mere mortals could offer.
I don't have an issue with people who use their celebrity status to increase the profile of a worthwhile charity but the lessons on politics and economics from musos and actors sometimes manage the novel feat of being both dreary and amusing. The immensely rich and even more immensely hypocritical Bono scored a huge tragicomic hit by hectoring world leaders to splash the cash and reduce world poverty.
Any such splurging will in reality only be paid for by tax rises for the little people yet Bono saw no problem or conflict when a sizeable chunk of his own untold millions was redirected to the Netherlands to avoid the aforesaid tax. The U2 warbler was reportedly shocked when an Irish journalist robustly took him to task for his say one thing do another approach to money, which reminds me of an earlier post about wealthy musicians and a God complex.
Benedict Cumberbatch is another celeb who appears to have zero self-awareness when you consider his endeavours to 'enlighten' the masses. Cumberbatch has described his name as resembling the sound of a fart in a bath, something which could also describe the content of his lectures to the plebs.
Martin Freeman once said actors don't know everything, as if anyone looks to luvvies for a cure to the world's ills. An adult male or female who pretends to be someone else for a living and who are often awash with unhealthy doses of ego and pretentiousness are surely amongst one of the last groups in society whose opinion should be sought on anything other than how to upstage co-workers or blag a fortune via supermarket adverts.
I watched an old interview with Dave Gilmour recently and I could imagine Waters grimacing if he saw Dave saying life was so much better in Pink Floyd without "old grumpychops". Unfortunately, Roger takes it way beyond the Victor Meldrew Factor.

If you want to hear his actual views, listen to the podcast and hear what he has to say. If you don’t want to do that then you’re not really that well qualified to comment.

On the whole, and call me Mr Picky, I prefer the vocals done by someone who can sing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPDNQYhNyGQ&ab...

I did listen to a few of his albums post Pink Floyd and although i seem to recall there were a few tracks worthy of a listen again, there was nothing memorable. Happens a lot though, bands tend to be greater than the sum of their parts. Mind you, Sting did alright.
