As above I'd go for a strat... PRS are great guitars but sound like nothing IMO!
I would personally look for an 80's Tokai or a JV Squire - Both amazing and going to be sound investments (You'd be lucky to find a JV Squire for £700)
- The Tokai's are sweet as - something like this:

Fun fact , my dad's pal was the UK distributor of Tokai's in the 80sI would personally look for an 80's Tokai or a JV Squire - Both amazing and going to be sound investments (You'd be lucky to find a JV Squire for £700)

This is his, he was fortunate enough that he could go through as many as he wanted before finding the one he liked best

Having had some fun playing around with noodling and shredding, I have come to realise that my heart is firmly based in blues/Hendrix. I'm finding myself picking up my cheap 25-year-old "Westfield" Ibanez copy as I get nicer blues tones out of the single coils and the neck just feels more like I want to grab it and bust out some heavy bends and vibrato. The guitar is terrible though with a broken truss rod and zero sustain from the plywood body. My other guitar is a lovely Ibanez RG prestige which is great, but simply doesn't feel or sound right for blues.
I *think* I want a Jimi Hendrix MIM strat. I love the idea of the vintage tones and the lower tension in the thin strings due to the reverse head stock. My only doubt is that I once had a USA Strat Plus which I just didn't get on with. All my guitar heros play strats and I love the strat tones.
One guitar that blew me away was a PRS SE Custom 24 (30th Anniversary). The coil split gave some great tones and it felt different, but nice to play. From memory, the neck was just a little too chunky for me and I heard the tuners on these SEs go out of whack after any whammy use.
So, I'm after;
Vintage, single coil Strat-like tones
Nice and easy to play with low action
Bonus if the guitar looks right for blues.
Budget less than a Hendrix Strat (~£700)
Any suggestions?

With another child on the way I've suddenly lost my guitar storage space, so I bought another guitar.
The plan was to sell three and buy a nice one so I figured the sensible thing was to buy the nice one first to force my hand in selling the others (Mrs enjo will see to that).
I picked it up on Monday and it is wonderful, an OM-03 Mahogany from 2015.
Now, is it weird I've been taking it into the downstairs loo (smallest room in the house) to hear the glorious sound bounce off the walls?

Just had the email from the shop in Edinburgh, my Silver Sky is arriving today.
Now I've got to make the drive from the North with 2 Ibanez JS guitars (100 & 1000) and the JEM BSB what are being traded in to make the transaction more palatable.
Hopefully i'll have it on Friday but probably won't get to play it till late on Sunday as i'm off on a training course for the weekend.

Those have sounded great from every review I've heard. Mayer was one of the reasons I went for an OM.Now I've got to make the drive from the North with 2 Ibanez JS guitars (100 & 1000) and the JEM BSB what are being traded in to make the transaction more palatable.

Yeah, i'm not a huge fan of his, got most of his albums and listen to them occasionally. I've been looking for a strat with a rosewood board for a while. The 2 i have are both Maple (Eric Johnson and a Gilmour) and i was trying to justify another strat just for a different wood on the neck. I've got a PRS Tremonti and fancied another PRS and the Silver Sky was announced at the right time for me. The neck radius isn't a issue for me as it's the same as the Gilmour and I've never had a problem with that guitar. I did like John's explanation of it he put out a couple of days after it was announced.
I'll see soon enough how good it is, I'm sure Paul Reed Smith and John won't let me down.
Had a few beers when I was at Download a few weeks back, and this is the result...

After the great advice on here to look at Yamahas as a decent entry level acoustic, I went for a look round PMT in Nottingham to have a fiddle.
Had a quick look at a 730, which I liked a lot, but after advice from Mrs Cjelli (I like the look of that one), I ended up bringing home this.
Massive step up from the 3/4 size classical I’ve been tinkering with, even the wife doesn’t automatically make “that” face when I play it. Until I got to Highway to Hell, anyway.

If you live near Nottingham, check out Nottingham City Guitars one day. Just make sure you either have a reasonable bank balance or leave all forms of money at home!
Congratulations on the new guitar, the best guitar is always going to be the one that makes you keep coming back to pick it up.

That is beautiful!https://photos.app.goo.gl/mqr5BPUDXMp8rVnTA
My limited knowledge of jazz progressions would not, unfortunately, be able to do it justice (after 30 years of playing, I'm only just getting my head around ii-V-I and associated chord substitutions)

Ditto, so it's just as well that this thing does rock like an absolute champ My limited knowledge of jazz progressions would not, unfortunately, be able to do it justice (after 30 years of playing, I'm only just getting my head around ii-V-I and associated chord substitutions)
TY
I’ve currently got a MIM Strat which plays really, really well which I will never sell, and I’ve also got a MIM Tele which I just can’t on with that well which I think is going to need to go, the trouble is I do really want a Tele in my modest collection, and being somewhat of a Johnny Greenwood fan I’m considering a Tele Plus V1, has anyone had or played one of these?, are they worth shelling out for?, ok they’re not as expensive as a new American Elite Strat/Tele on eBay but still they’re an expensive guitar and am a bit reluctant to buy one off the internet before playing it.

New guitar day last friday...
I have wanted a 'relic' for some time. But at the end of the day I'm an Ibanez man.... This came up, and not at a terrible price. The idea is to keep it, love it and get some custom covers for the pickups. She is a lovely thing, obviously very much used and abused, but she's amazing.
With some stable mates...
