Cool collection there. Love the second one from left, the AFD-like one at the top and the one with bigsby. I love Les Pauls with bigsbys. A bigsby equipped, 3 p'up black beauty LP is one of my fav guitars of all time.

I do love me some bling! lick

The '59 pickups must have cost a fair amount of wedge. Bet they sound epic!

Ooh is that a Mesa with a hardwood cab, I spy? Nice!

No they're all one price for the wood, there is a scale depending on what hardware & electrics you may want. I've gone for a 7.25" maple neck, gotoh bridge & 3 way switch.

Sorry to disappoint but I've also asked Ron to select as barn door a piece of wood for the body as he can find. It will be a gnarly old floorboard of an axe.
Is yours going to be a natural finish too?

Yes, they're all done in reticulated satin nitrocellulose with an amber tint.

I had to look that up on his website, then I had to look up reticulated.

Wow! I knew what nitro finish is but I had to google reticulated. I'm still none the wiser as to what that has to do with finishing. lol

Pine is a great tone wood. The tone from a hardwood pine speaker cab is very different to the usual ply, and for the better. As they say, tone is everything! biggrin

Tempted by Ovations new Yngwie beasty...always play a lot of guitar lounging around, so play a lot of electric unplugged as they are easier to handle than bulky acoustics when lying on the sofa etc.
Came across the Viper Yngwie, scalloped fingerboard & narrow body...could be just the job.....dont seem to be any in the UK yet, but a few stateside...not cheap either....hmmm will 'mull'
You too, eh? I too seem to end up horizontal underneath my guitars. I have no knowledge or experience of the Yngwie Ovation, but I have a Balladeer that I picked up cheap as a knockabout guitar to take camping etc, and TBH it's a right sod to play in any position other than stood up, the bowl back just doesn't seem to sit comfortably against my stomach in other positions. Probably something to do with two convex surfaces only having a single point of contact smile

That Ovation Malmsteen Viper looks really cool. How much are they going for?

Not cheap I am afraid....£1,983 best price from the USA. Doesnt seem to be any UK sellers currently, Thoman in germany are advertising them at 3,333 euros, about £2,709,they quote the RRP for them at 4,045 euros ( £3,200 ish )
So even with duty & shipping stateside seems a good deal, reckon get one across for £2,400 all declared & above board

Gulp!!

Well I did it, couldnt resist, splashed out on a yngwie ovation.Glad I did, you can see where the money has gone, real quality guitar, quite weighty and that 5 piece neck feels fantastic, rock solid & a great width.
The scalloping is interesting, not really played it a lot yet, but it does feel good, perfect size for strumming lying on the bed etc..top marks to ovation on this one, love it

I love that, the scallops look pretty mild but that has to be excellent to play, I bet it sounds amazing.

I used to have a Crafted in Japan YJM strat, that had very deep scallops on it, and it was an absolutely brilliant guitar in every respect. Almost wish I'd never sold it, but it remains the only guitar I've sold for a profit, and I owned one of my dream guitars for a year. The guy that bought it was a YJM nut from Germany who had over 50 YJM strats of various years, specs and countries of origin. He also had one of the limited edition "Duck" replicas, which is an as-near-as-perfect replica of Yngwie's most famous strat, which cost over £10,000. He sent me some photos of his collection with my guitar on the wall, what a sight, I'll see if I can dig them out.
