Dave2P, you're a bad influence...
Couldn't hold out any longer, so cancelled the Plustop and went for the Tribute. Seriously beautiful thing, and cranking it hard through the V30 & 2x12 cab it just sounds better and better. Heavy old lump, but I actually prefer that in a guitar sometimes. Definitely made the right choice I reckon, thanks for the help guys.

Is that the Black Cherry finish? Lovely - very classy look.
Enjoy! The big frustration I'm having with mine is... not having enough time to play it. We're moving house next month and, apparently, I'm expected to put my guitar down and help with the planning and packing...

I've given myself sore fingertips for the first time in years, I've been playing it so much. No matter how good something sounds in a shop, when you get it back on your own rig it just always sounds that much better.
Just added this one - Fender Strat "Big Block" - named for the block inlays in lieu of the usual dots. HSS configuration and a single tone control instead of the usual two. Produced in 2005 and probably around 250 or so made (in Mexico). A bit more muscular looking than the average Strat and similar to the LE Iron Maiden version.

Picked up one of the new Charvel Guthries, 2017 model , still fairly rare at the mo. Got one of the previous ones, and due to the 2017 model having the mini toggle for coil split on the humbuckers, been after one, great guitars, awesome necks & frets, and the range of sounds is excellent, really are my go to guitar now.
Not a bad flame on the neck either...only issue I have with them is the no trem thing, really don't like it, struggle with keeping it in tune & the little black screws fall out all the time, so may well get my guitar tech chap to block the trem so it will only do the down movement anyway and stay in tune better....

I just bought a small present to myself!
Been thinking of getting a new acoustic to practice with at home as my current one is a 1950's F-Hole acoustic, which whilst lovely to look at is not the easiest thing to play. High action and generally a bit of a bugger to play!
So went to music shop in town (Cambridge) and had a play with a few "budget" acoustics.
Bearing in mind I was only looking at about £300 to spend I wasn't expecting a miracle, nothing solid wood and probably not electro-acoustic.
Played with a few and a "cheap" Washburn and a Sigma stood out in this price bracket, then i spotted this little beaut hanging up in the corner.
Washburn HD10SCE - Heritage series - Dreadnought body - Solid top - Mahogany back and sides - Semi Cutaway - Electro-Acoustic
It sounds better than some rather more expensive guitars i've picked up! When i started playing it just felt lovely and right Also managed to get them to knock a few quid off too ;-) ended up at £325
Lovely tone and easy low action, the fact it has reasonably decent Fishman electrics was a bonus too!
Anyway here she is unwrapped at home

I know I may upset a few people, but this kind of finish looks so much better than a bookmatched top!
I think bookmatched woods would look amazing if everything lined up, but it never seems to, even on big price guitars...
STOP BOOKMATCHING!
Good luck trying to find a piece of maple wide enough for a one piece face on a Les Paul bodyI think bookmatched woods would look amazing if everything lined up, but it never seems to, even on big price guitars...

It looks like it has a Tremel-No installed, is that what you mean by the "little black screws", or do you mean the fine tuners? Not a bad flame on the neck either...only issue I have with them is the no trem thing, really don't like it, struggle with keeping it in tune & the little black screws fall out all the time, so may well get my guitar tech chap to block the trem so it will only do the down movement anyway and stay in tune better....
Either way, I've never seen the point of Tremel-Nos myself, a floating trem is a doddle to set up and should be absolutely rock solid for tuning stability as long as it's been decently manufactured and properly installed, even changing strings and tunings takes no time at all especially if you have a backplate with the access holes in it. If the guitar has a trem, you might as well use it.
