Sky one keeps showing very old repeats. Family Guy seems to be the new in-thing. So, that it then?

I know they are still making them but Sky seems a bit behind. Has the magic gone?

The magic was lost a good few series ago. The Simpsons today is dross; a shadow of its former self. Still, the older episodes (up to around the end of Series 10) are gold.

Yep, series 10 was the last watchable series, series 9 was the last funny series, series 7 was the last great series.

Everything from series 11 onwards is complete st, a whole decade of st, very sad demise of one of the greatest TV shows ever.

It's been so long that my 13 and 17 year old sisters have never known it to be funny, they don't beleive me that it used to be the best thing on TV by a mile.

Never been a Futurama fan but watched 'Benders Big Score' and realised they put the wrong one direct to DVD.

The last two seasons have been good.

I too thought that they had lost their way around saeson 13 or so but the latest are good.

They have taken on a more cynical edge this time and are also willing to ride rough shod over all the plot from previous episodes (watch "that 90's show") which is quite entertaining!

New seasons for Family guy, simpsons, south park, american dad etc will be starting at the end of september early october!

futurama is really good for your general family fun

but i honestly believe no cartoon comes close to south park right now. there was a lull a few yrs ago but they've really shaped up their act.

but the big question is

do you like fishsticks?

they should have let it die a dignified death years ago.

Apart from the odd episode, I agree with the thought that it wasn't laugh out loud funny since season 7.

My favourite Simpsons episode and also my favourite episode of any TV show ever is "22 Short Films About Springfield". I wish there had been more episodes like it.

Lou: You know, the funniest thing though; it's the little
differences.
Wiggum: Example.
Lou: Well, at McDonald's you can buy a Krusty Burger with cheese,
right? But they don't call it a Krusty Burger with cheese.
Wiggum: Get out! Well, what do they call it?
Lou: A Quarter Pounder with cheese.
Wiggum: Quarter Pounder with cheese? Well, I can picture the cheese,
but, uh, do they have Krusty partially gelatinated non-dairy
gum-based beverages?
Lou: Mm-hm. They call 'em, "shakes."
Eddie: Huh, shakes. You don't know what you're gettin'.

Too much of a cash cow for Fox I guess, even though us fans from the early seasons gave up. Think of all the merchandising deals..

I don't like the early Simpsons either, the focus on Bart, noticeably poor animation and bad lip syncing with the voices.

It became great when they changed that and found that the real hero of the show was Homer. Then it was brilliant but it went downhill after Maude died wink

Maude was hot!

I think the main problem is the lack of reality (yes, I know its a cartoon!) but when it started to become more surreal/slapstick type instead of family morale(ish) based.

Mainly lost its way with special guests without really being any part of the story whatsoever. As for the film yikes that was very poor - For shame frown

I defiantly agree that the film is a shadow of its former self, like everyone else has said they completely lost the plot after season 9.

I hated the film with an absolute passion, but for some reason it was a hit with the masses, it’s the only film I’ve been to that people applauded? Why, it was awful yet it received mainly positive reviews? Same goes for the new episodes, people still watch them and they still manage win awards? I wonder whether people are afraid to criticise it because it’s ‘The Simpsons’ and they know it was great once and hope it will be again.

Personally I think Fox need to pull the plug, they did it to Futurama when it was in its prime so why not just dump The Simpsons once and for all.

I have seasons 1 to 10 on DVD and that’s all I’ll ever need!

Couldn't agree more, the film seemed like an extended Halloween special and I don't really like those bar a couple! So that ruined the film for me, I just couldn't shake that thought. I had tried not to get my hopes up about the film but it was just so hard with all the rave reviews. It did sound excellent in the cinema, but that was about it.

I've wanted to get that off my chest for ages!

Homer saying d'oh for twenty odd years can get a little tiresome.
