I went to the Ministry of Sound in London last June. Lasted until about 2am but that was only because I was with my wife and she was tired.

I was 39 at the time. I didnt feel out of place age wise at all. Want to go again this year.

Never looked at this thread for some reason.
Went to see Kruder&Dorfmeister before Christmas and then to the after party night by Fila Brazilia. Great to see a dj build the night. We were 1st there and all chatting, then before you knew it everyone was up dancing. Great night but written off the next day wink
Not quite trance I know but great to be out. The sound systems were amazing.
Always find that you get an older crowd at the Joey Negro/ LNTG/ Dr Packer (disco house) type of nights who are always up for it.

No, I don't use it anymore, I bought a Pioneer XDJ unit, so mix live now.

Wondering if any of you Trance guys could have a listen to this and answer a couple of questions for me, I'm not
that familiar with trance stuff and its sub-genres but occasionally hear something that sounds pretty immense, this
track is one of them, but in particular a certain section.

So the question's to the Trance experts are....

What type of trance is this, I know it's called Trance and Acid, but I have listened to other stuff called the same
but it sounds nothing like this, is it era specific maybe?

The 2nd question is this, the part beginning at 0:50 seconds / ending around 1:18 to my ears is one of the very best
trance type pieces I have ever heard, so can anyone recommend anything else that sounds similar to this to add to my
sadly limited trance folder. https://youtu.be/DBAQRY1MTUY

Thanks in advance.

Kai Tracid errs on the tech trance genre, with a hint of acid. Some of his remixes are very, very good.

What about some tech trance:

Or even some proggy trance (granted this has a vocal but it's unreal from 3:00 and onwards, particularly the drop at 3:47):

ETA: The tech trance I linked might be a bit too hard for you, so maybe some progressive/tech trance might be more your cup of tea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbkGvEGjzI8

Ahh, the fantastic sounds of the TB-303 smile I'd call this Acid Trance - check out Commander Tom or Noom Records, and Liberator DJs for some harder stuff. Very much a 90s sound, and I don't mean that disparagingly.

Coincidentally I'm doing a live set (playing, not DJing) on Thurs night and I was trying to describe to the rest of the office what style of music I'll be playing. The clip you linked to summed it up perfectly.

A couple of weeks ago I listened to Judge Jules at Gatecrasher, NYE 1999 on YouTube. The tracks were fantastic - definitely the halcyon days of trance for me. If clubs played musing like that nowadays I'd be back out clubbing a lot more regularly than I am now (which is about twice a year)...

Was blocked at work. frown

If you go onto Youtube and find a channel called Driving Music there are hundreds of live sets, essential mixes etc going back to the mid 90's. There is some wonderful music to take you back. Most of it might be a bit 'pop' for the acid house crowd, but old school Prydz, Tiesto, Schulz, PvD, Cosmic Gate etc is a very happy place to spend some time. Have a hunt and there are some absolute gems.
