Some Windir for your delectation.
Great song. I embarrassingly ignored Windir for quite a while, even after Valfar's death. Partly because I like very little Viking/Folk apart from Enslaved and Falkenbach; and partly because around the release of 1184 and Likferd there was a lot of hype around them, atleast online. The combination of those two made me think I'd hate them.. Oops.

There was another one like that I found the other day, really well known band, didn't have a clue it was a cover either. Can't remember what it was...

Just discovered these guys:

Amazing, how could they have gone unnoticed?

Maybe it's me, but I absolutely hate Blind Guardian...far too twiddly and cheese-ridden for my liking most of the time. Friends swear by them. Hammerfall might float your boat, if they don't already?

Enjoying Slough Feg at the moment. And no, I have no idea what their name means either.

Little bit of Regurgitate to help the evening along smile

Regurgitate - Catatonic Possession

I should probably have grown out of liking this stuff by now, but still enjoy it. Just has that creepy crawly nastiness to it I love so much.

Oh I love it, don't get me wrong, I just think it wears the Entombed influence rather too obviously. The songs are straight off Left Hand Path and the logo and artwork are blatant copies.

On a completely different note, saw Firewind at the O2 Academy on Saturday. Not my first choice on record, as doesn't really have the clout I normally go for, but they can damn well play.

Not sure I agree entirely. YES, Entombed have influenced a great many bands, but to me it doesn't sound overly like Left Hand Path. If anything, it sounds like Bloodbath (who are, of course, deliberately and openly attempting to mimic the likes of Entombed and 80s Death Metal in general). But then Bloodbath is essentially a Death Metal supergroup consisting of members of Opeth and Kataonia who have stated that the whole purpose of Bloodbath is to create music similar to that pf bands such as Entombed soooo... On the other hand, I also sort of agree. It just depends on from which moment in time you look at it, I suppose.

So they sound like a band who sounds like Entombed, rather than sounding like Entombed? wink

Isn't that rather like saying "they don't sound like Carcass, they sound like The County Medical Examiners"?
