Agreed. Best song on the album.

New Korn today.
That Korn album is bloody tremendous IMO, a real return to form by them!

Korn, Tool and Slipknot all putting out amazing music within the space of two months of each other. It's like the good old days all over again jester

Going back to the new Tool album; I've listened to about 30 minutes of it now. As a slight outsider (I quite like 10000 Days), I'm struggling to find what's great about it - Yeah it is quite catchy, head bobbing and groovy not a bad thing but for a progressive band, it didn't sound like any progression; just Tool by numbers.

Can anyone expand why they're really enjoying it? I know I am coming at it from the wrong way, if I was a massive Tool fan I'd have been listening to it in solitude, eyes closed, all the way through in one sitting etc. rather than hearing 3 random tracks.

I'm not trying to dispute or argue, we all have different tastes. Just curious.

My opinion: if you aren't already a Tool fan, this one is unlikely to convince you. I feel like it's an album that ticks all the boxes for existing fans.

However, as with all Tool albums, it opens up more with every listen. Once you get 10+ listens in you start to appreciate all the little things everyone is doing. It's brilliant.

New Opeth today. Not really listened to them much, but first few songs are good.

New DragonForce too. Epic as usual. Last DragonBorn is a highlight for me.

Can't remember if I've already mentioned it, but blimey is Abduction's "All Pain as Penance" a bit good.

Infinite Ancient Hexes

I'm totally drawn into the whole record.

ETA - loving this Monolithian session as well.

Acid Reign album out, complete with a rather cheeky little Suzanne Vega cover...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHgMRuVUdPE

A mere 30 years after their previous rather excellent cheeky little cover version.

Side note - cover art reminds me of Atrophy's "Socialized Hate" from way back when.

I saw Static-X, Soil, Wednesday 13 and Dope at the weekend - I'm a big Static-X fan so that was the main draw (despite my concerns about a homage replacement for Wayne Static) and it blew my expectations out of the water.

I only knew one Dope song from the American Psycho soundtrack, had never heard any Wednesday 13 and Soil had only ever released "Halo" as far as I was concerned, my eyes were opened on all counts.

Static-X were absolutely awesome and it was a great tribute, if you get chance to go along to any of the remaining UK dates this week I'd seriously recommend it.

I managed to see Volbeat at Brixton last week. Despite the singer clearly having a dodgy throat which you could hear when talking between songs, his vocals were flawless! The whole show was superb.

Airbourne and Amon Amarth gigs coming up next month! \m/

I'll certainly be checking it out. They never deviate too much from their sound/style but that's no bad thing. I like this second vocalist as well. Not that he's new any more but certainly a good singer.

sometimes you just stumble across a band you haven't heard of before and it's apparent they have been around for donkeys years with a full back catalogue..

cave in

early stuff very noisy and heavy, later stuff a lot more controlled.... fking sublime band..

Really wanted to enjoy the new DF album. Only two songs standout to me "Highway......." and their Celine Deon cover.

It turns out my 6 month old loves J-Rock/Kei rock, so we've been listening to Galneryus/Jupiter/Anything with Fuki recently.

The lead singer / guitarist also plays in Mutoid Man which I really dig. A bit more thrashy and riffy.
