We went to Amon Amarth on Saturday night at Brixton. What a live show that was!

Huge flame cannons? Yeah.
Fireworks? Uh huh.
Burning runes? You better believe it.
Drummer on giant rising viking helmet with video eyes? Yup.
Thunderous Thor hammer? Giant 10 meter tall viking guardian statues? Enormous inflatable world serpent?!

Yes.

I was there too, I just said much the same on the gigs thread. I've followed them for a while but Berzerker is such a great album and the songs fitted in brilliant. Raven's Flight just made my jaw drop, especially when the whole place lit up......literally!

I have just orderd The Pursuit of Vikings CD/DVD set as hadn't realised it was a live album, just assumed it was a compilation.

Can't quite work out whether this fits the "melodic death metal" tag, or whether it's closer to power metal with a) no ott widdly bits or b) dragons, but enjoying it quite a lot either way.

Lunarsea

Feels a bit like someone crashed a sci-fi power metal spaceship into Iron Maiden's "Brave New World". Lots of similar atmospheres and melodies.
