Any fans on here? I've liked them for a long time now but for some reason only bought a couple of compilations of theirs. I've been completely blown away now I've gotten hold of some of their albums and listened to them in their entirety. Laid is a spectacular album, and Booth is such a charismatic performer.
Will they be playing again soon I wonder?

James were (are?) a superb live act. Very diverse but no era disappoints, unless you were unfortunate enough to live through the "Sit Down" single era. Overplay on the radio destroyed what had hitherto been a great live-only experience. Make sure you don't miss Crescendo, from the original Gold Mother release, later replaced by... you guessed it - Sit Down.

They don't play 'sit down' live any longer.
Thank God, never liked that really compared to everything else.
It was an awesome experience 20 years back at the Come Home gig, though.Thank God, never liked that really compared to everything else.
Sadly they're unlikely to tour the UK this year, as Tim is on a solo tour, but I'm hoping they'll be back in 2012.

Although I do agree, they wrote so many better songs than Sit Down.
Fan here - first got into them during the come home/goldmother era.
First saw them live in Nov 1991 - think that would have been the sound/seven tour. Nearly 20 years ago now, makes me feel old.
I've got mixed views on Sit Down. Decent tune, but way over exposed and commercialised. Part of the appeal of early James was they were relatively unknown. I remember struggling to find early copies of Stutter and One Man Clapping. This was pre-internet days when your local record shop was a crappy Our Price.
Really, really good live. Tomorrow is my fave live tune

Last saw them at Christmas in Glasgow.
Amazing showmanship from the whole band, chatty and friendly. Some of their songs you just sort of like from the past become anthemic singalong 7 or 8 min long songs and are just epic.
And yes, they played 'Sit Down'! (About half way through)
Been a while since I left a concert feeling so uplifted.

I first saw them in about 1985 (!) at a free music festival in Platt Fields Park, Manchester (around the time when the EP with Hymn from a Village on) came out. Saw them several times after that, and went to what I thought was their last ever gig at V2000. Then they reformed with Ming the Merciless on vocals. Cracking band.
