Jebus, some of those girls are seriously rough. Do guys actually go for that? Never mind the dodgy boobs, smiles, hair, eyelashes or the clothing. I just don't get it. Is it the illusion of availability?
<sigh> and so it begins - please start your own thread for this sort of thing, this one is ideally for pictures and not for slagging people off in their absence. Though we all obviously look forward to a picture of yourself for critique [the traditional Pistonheads tin of custard included, naturally].

To answer your question - purely on the grounds of aesthetics I personally am not a particular fan of synthetic breasts, excessive makeup, jailbait or 'attitude', but plenty out there would disagree with me and I am happy to shoot anyone who agrees to pose (not all wish to, which is fine and obviously not an issue that I get with the cars and engineering exhibits). I have no issue with the shrink wrap attire on anybody who has the figure for it (which most, but not all of the promotions girls in catsuits do). Though my note for exhibitors is that the mainstream motor shows often opt to put their models in something more like a cocktail dress and for me that works better than lycra (always some, but rarely more than a handful at the Autosport. GM and Alfa Romeo at the last London Motor Show which IIRC was back in 2008... very nice). In general terms though, my opinion is always inclined towards the ones who are the nicest to chat to, and they are often not the ones who come out best in the pictures. Though equally, sometimes they certainly are and other women probably hate them for it.

Illusion of availability? Erm - no. Practically none of them tend to be single and it is not an environment where any rational person is going to fancy their chances on the pull, even those who aren't as middle aged as most photographers. I guess that there are going to be irrational people at the show though, so their are probably cases compatible with your theory...

Hope this clears things up - can we get back to pictures now?

O....The Models are there to promote the products on the stands, so in general they are very friendly and most of the time always smiling, its a feel good thing, what's wrong with having a friendly chat and a photo taken, I enjoyed the day, and I'm sure the girls enjoy all the photos smile As for some of the make up the girls wear, yes it is sometimes spread on a bit thick but due to lighting at the show it helps with more distance photos.

The models know nothing about the products on the stands, they are employed by agencies.

I have been going to Autosport for many, many years and just do not see the need to see the promo girls. After all there are never any promo boys for us female petrolheads.

What the guys do not realize is that the promo girls really do take the p**S out of them afterwards but smile as they are paid to do so.

I know most are agency but some of them have an association. (Maxxis girls are permanent IIRC.)

Lets be honest, probably >90% of the attendees were guys. A pretty girl on the stand will make most hetero guys more likely to look at the stand. If they go over for the girls there's a chance they'll look at the products too. If there were _no_ promo girls it would be a level playing field, but as some stands use them I guess others feel the need too.

Well in every photo of mine it put a smile on my face and I really enjoyed the day, Ive not had much to smile about in the last few months, So thank you to all the Girls from the Agency's. As for Models and Cars, I think you need to step back a bit and look at the Big Picture......Girls have been used to advertise Cars and Bikes almost from day one! Look at old advertising posters from the 1920s There will always be a young lady somewhere in the poster. Look at the Grid in most motor sports, there are always models walking up and down holding boards displaying the number of the racer/driver. Hawaiian Tropic girls at Le mans, Pirelli calenders from a Tyre manufacture and the list goes on. Girls are all part of it...And as a normal Bloke, that's fine by me.
You should have a look here too. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Many of the Girls are professional models, they make a living doing this work and that's great, good for them, at least there doing something with their lives while their young smile

Thought we had moved on since the 1920s and I presume you meant to post .... their lives while they are young, rather than " ... their lives while their young" !!!!!!!!!!

May I suggest that if you want to argue the merits of girls/no girls that it's done in another thread. The title of this one indicates it's for pics. I'm not saying the discussion isn't valid, I'm just suggesting that it's done elsewhere so's not to clutter up this otherwise fine thread. Cheers.
