So the Wrangler wheels fit just fine. Ride is so much smoother than the 20" XL tyres

That looks proper tremendous with those wheels. Bet it’s a good deal more comfy now.

On the recently purchased 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD Overland we have 4 x Continental Cross contract UHP tyres. The rear tyres have a date stamp 2416 (week 24 in 2016) so they nearly 2 years old when fitted onto the Jeep. They still have approximately 2.7mm tread however as they are on the rear this seems to indicate that the tyres have never been rotated despite it being recommended on the service manual.

The front tyres have a manufacture date of 4121 or week 41 in 2021. However they seem to be down to about 5mm. Obviously all legal and will get through a MOT however I always change tyres when they reach about 3mm.

Offside front Outer 7mm Inner 6mm
Nearside front Outer 9mm Inner 9mm
Offside rear Outer 5mm Inner 4mm
Nearside rear Outer 4mm Inner 3mm

The concern here is that difference in tyre tread may affect the transfer case which could turn out to be an expensive repair. This mentioned or discussed on other US Jeep forums and also on a Your tube video. I am changing all 4 tyres at the same time despite the front tyres having ample depth and one being almost new. I will be keeping the two front tyres to sell on eBay. What are your thoughts on possible issues with transfer case due to uneven tread wear?

I've heard of similar issues on other brands / cars. Seems to be overstated but... worth doing if you can.

Think you made the right decision.

It's very nice but does have a drink problem where fuel is concerned lol but it may be I have not tried the eco button yet

How horrendously ruinous are these to fuel? Have been considering one for a while, in my mind they're currently £10-15k less to buy than anything else I'd like and that would pay for a hell of a lot of fuel.

With my 3.0 diesel, I was getting about 550-570 miles from the 93l tank doing mixed driving. Thats about 27 mpg.

Motorway driving only would take it to 36-40 mpg.

They do around 30mpg give it take a bit for driving conditions/style. Track is huge at 93l so you are looking at a hefty cost to fill but no different in cost to any car offering the same mpg.
I used to get between 500 and 580 to a tank

Hi, recently back from 2 weeks family holiday in France sticking to the speed limits (ish) including lots running around as well as the full load to and from averaged 25.2 on the 1600 miles

Around town at home low to mid teens

It’s not my daily car so I am happy with the mpg

Totally agree it’s a good 15-20 grand cheaper than a similar x5 x6 Range Rover etc etc plus you don’t see many on the roads

That doesn't actually sound too horrendous. Am I right in my understanding that when cruising on motorways etc that it shuts down half the cylinders to save fuel?
What's the ride like on the srt? Seems to be the lower models without air suspension aren't the best, does the srt share their suspension or does it have a unique set up?
Looks great in black, I also like the subtle red ones too.

Correct th eco mode shuts down 4 cylinder BUT apparently this can cause the HEMI tick which causes lift failure so it’s recommended to run in sport mode so it disables eco mode

The ride is firm, if you go to track mode it’s very firm and for the size of it, it’s insanely fast

there are a few thoughts on that TBH. One of the more prevalent theories (beyond just rank bad luck) is that sitting idling is a large factor - sadly, despite this being a well known issue, no-one has managed to come up with a definitive answer (or, more importantly, a cure!)

Did the 18’s have any effect on the economy, I’m just about to pull the trigger on a wk2 but hate 20’s with a passion

maybe 1-2mpg, but I did go for ATs, if I stuck road tyres on I would not expect a difference. the 18 with ATs were a fair bit lighter than 20s with XL/runflat tyres
