not keen on the front of the new one, maybe some good deals to be had on older ones when the facelift is released

I agree, they have made the front uglier and the dash better, the dash was my main criticism on the current model vs the "Rock".

Owned a hills for some years, now driving a 3.2 Wildrak and I love it

Tried the amorak but the Ranger was much better as far as I was concerned. Quiet, comfortable, fast enough and surprisingly good on fuel.

Highly recommend it.

Saw your Ranger in the Reader Cars section, looks great! Love the colour.

Looking into buying a couple of trucks for work and had narrowed it down to Amarok or Ranger. Light duties and home use / caravan towing duties etc. All the manufacturers support has gone on to the new Ranger so, frustratingly, the remaining old stock is more expensive than the new on business contract hire; but I can't get hold of the new ones until March next year.

I have never been keen on the L200 but tried the new series 5 today in Warrior trim and was very impressed. Bags of kit too.

Anyone got the new L200 or considered one?

I have been looking at pick-ups myself. A work/ lifestyle compromise.
I have been very impressed with the D-Max after a test drive.
I have never been a fan of the L200 until I have seen the new Series 5. Looks so much better and the kit looks great too.

will be booking a test drive soon

I'm thinking of buying one, I had a test drive and was well impressed. It has one big advantage over the Ranger or Amarok - it weighs less than 2040kg unladen, so it qualifies as a Dual Purpose vehicle and avoids the lower commercial vehicle speed limits. The Ranger and Amarok are both over that weight, so you would have 50mph limits on single track roads and 60mph on dual carriageways as opposed to 60 and 70 for the L200.

Did you try an Auto? I have ordered a manual for a colleague but keen to see what the auto is like.

Manual, I'm afraid. I am thinking about getting an auto as that will be better for towing but the manual is a wee bit faster and has better economy.

Now a Ranger Raptor would be an interesting proposition. Shame it's mostly just a cosmetic job..... http://www.trucktrend.com/news/1510-global-ford-ra...

Dealer who was sorting me a Wildtrack out has said he has the 2016 models coming in in January, can't find any concrete specs/options list yet though. Anyone see any?

I tested the Ford - Nissan and Mitsubishi - friend has VW so already new what it was like - I bought a new series 5 Mitsubishi - lovely engine very quiet around town 32 mpg motorways 42 mug - great turning circle the others were hopeless - we drive in wet and snowy roads and the Mitsubishi is the only one you can drive in 4wd at speed - the final deciding factor was passengers in the rear have a seat lightly raised with good leg room so comfortable - once you drive the series 5 you mind will be made up.

One difference nobody has mentioned is the Dmax comes with 5 yr warranty, makes a big difference to me, and tows 3.5 tonne, only 3.2 Ranger competes. Always stopped me buying a double cab as they had such appalling towing weights in the past. I tow diggers and dumpers on 3.5t trailer often, I was swayed by a hire company I use who have a Dmax alongside their lorries. He has a trailer which allows him to tow a 3t mini digger behind Dmax, brilliant for him, cuts down on tacho hours, much more comfortable and quicker coming back empty. Pleased with my Dmax, had it 4 months.

If he's towing a trailer commercially with a double cab, is he not still under tacho rules? As would you be?

Unless I'm missing something......which is usually the case!

You need a tacho to tow unless the gear on the trailer is for your own use, and you are within 55km of your home base. Otherwise over 3.5 tonne you need tacho. Think using pick up is quicker than lorry, especially running back empty, obviously wouldn't need tacho to come back empty.
