I have an 11 plate Navarra V6
At the time I got it imho it was the best on the market , I went for the V6 as it was fully loaded and I liked the power delivery of the V6 on the auto box
A friend has a new Navarra no V6 option and his brother has the V6 3.2 Ranger been in both and imho the ranger is the best
Cheers

I thought the Amarok still had rear cart springs too? That gets discounted for its wheezy 2.0.
We elected for the 3.2 Ranger, which has worked ok for us. Yep, it has cart springs, but also has fluid filled cab mounts and seems to be a good compromise. We've been around Scotland a couple of times, and down to Monaco, and it's not an unpleasant place to be. I also like the fact it's got a proper steering box, which reaps rewards. They've certainly moved on since the last time I had a double cab.
Amarok now has v6 diesels across the range paired with the zf8 sod gearbox. And now tows 3.5t along with the navara. We elected for the 3.2 Ranger, which has worked ok for us. Well, to round this thread off (a rare thing on PH!), I ended up with a 2 year old Shogun 4Work, otherwise known as a Commercial. £5k cheaper than a brand new L200 with a top on the back (we use a supplier who get's 28% discount), it's a bit agricultural and not quite what I wanted only having 2 seats, but the deal is I have it for 2 years then P/X it against something I do want. Seemed fair enough!
Hi
I've been doing some test driving this week.
Backround is coming from a 2016 Golf R and also owning a 2007 transit. Looking for a workhorse that will replace both. I know I'm losing a crap load of performance but gaining serious tax benefits and coolness in the eyes of both my kids and my wife (think she will end up stealing this car more than driving her own car)
This week then.
Monday, friend of a friend came round with his new L200 - Had a quick go, thought it was ok but bit wobbly and slow, though it had 300kg in the back at the time. Quite nice though.
Drove to airport in my golf R then at destination picked up a pug 208 (awful car). Then went to commercial garage to chat about options. Mentions Navara but I'd not done much research into them. Anyway took it out for a 20 min in town test drive and was very very impressed. Totally had to change my tack now as had almost decided on L200 or Amarok.
Saturday, drove past Ford garage and spotted Ranger with £285 per month sticker on! Went in and ended up taking out a manual Ranger. Now this is my favourite looking but concerned about 20mpg on the 3.2. Loved the looks and interior and even the on road experience but felt the car had no power at all in first and second. Well what I mean is that it had no acceleration, just noise! Felt soooo heavy. Assume this is down to it having 14 miles on the clock and so engine is tight as h3ll. Have arranged an overnight when their demo comes back in.
Later that day took an L200 out for an hour or so on my own. Mixed feelings. Loads of oomph once you get past the noise but hated the way the engine held on to revs when changing gear, especially 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd. Couldn't get it right, change early or change after a good push in lower gear, it always did something weird which made me seem like a learner again!. Economy amazing, returned it with 35mpg on the clock even after ragging it a bit.
Got the Navara arranged for an overnighter on Tuesday and waiting to confirm getting the Ranger overnight too.
Navara seems the best option right now but am conscious of some bad reviews of suspension (then again I doubt I will ever fill it to 1 ton) It's also the cheapest on 2 year lease. Thinking about vanarama but not sure I can trust them with an order, toomany stories of cars not existing once they take your order! or even two days before delivery!

I had a ranger for an afternoon, too bouncey and the gearbox so so...
I Drove this Amarok off the forecourt and had to contain my "I'm buying this" face On test drive!
We throw bikes and scooters in the back and performance is grunty and enjoyable. I'm not towing anything, remap from Revo will net around 300bhp/500lbs ish..

This is because the first few gears are setup ratio wise for towing 3.5 tonsLoads of oomph once you get past the noise but hated the way the engine held on to revs when changing gear, especially 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd.

The warranty void world, that's where. I'm pretty sure the 3.0 V6 would go there, it's the engine they should have put in from the off, as opposed to that wheezy 2.0
That's what I'm saying, I cant see a remap anywhere for the V6. Even on Revo's website unless I missed it.KY66RVZ is a V6
Found what I think is a close Audi equivalent: http://www.revotechnik.com/product-details/softwar...
KY66RVZ owner was guesstimating, me thinks.

Yes, just checked. I don't know how Audi came by the extra 50bhp.normalbloke said:
Mumsnet is over there>>>>>
And weightwatchers this way <<<<<<<< Seriously, how come they've managed to make the Amarok (and the Ranger) 300 kgs heavier than the Hilux and L200?
Whilst it limits the legal speed of these it also blunts the payload. My L200 whilst 'only' being able to pull 3.1 tonnes (more than I'll ever need), can also have a tonne in the back, these 2 when pulling the 3.5 tonnes can only have ~300kg payload.
