And weightwatchers this way <<<<<<<< smile

Seriously, how come they've managed to make the Amarok (and the Ranger) 300 kgs heavier than the Hilux and L200?

Whilst it limits the legal speed of these it also blunts the payload. My L200 whilst 'only' being able to pull 3.1 tonnes (more than I'll ever need), can also have a tonne in the back, these 2 when pulling the 3.5 tonnes can only have ~300kg payload.
It's different things to different people. It doesn't appear to be hurting sales. In a similar vein, the L200 getting knocked down in the NCAP due to the airbags failing to deploy properly didn't put you off.

A mate of mine has the new d-max and he says the new engine coupled with the new gearbox ratios are perfect for towing the weight etc. He had the previous version and whilst both aren't the last word in luxury they are built more for work. This one will spend every day of the 3 years he has it towing 3.5ton and the last one did the same with no complaints.

A utah model can be had for £23k

The 1.9? I had a good look around one of these and even by pickup standards they felt cheap, the seats in the top spec look chavvy too imho.
Fine if you "need" a pickup for its main purpose but if it's mixed use(as most will be at this level) it has to be a nicer place to be.

Yes the 1.9 is the new engine, the top spec "Blade" is the one you probably looked at and is over the top with its interior styling. And its about £12k cheaper than an amarok so there will be a noticeable difference in quality.

The V6's are rated at 224bhp stock with a 20bhp over boost in 4th gear and above, stock torque is 406lbs/ft. I know Revo personally and they have one on the fleet and are in final touches, they have checked part n's against the A7 3ltr and turbo, cams heads etc share the same part no, they have seen 324bhp on a hub Dyno out of that, and around 500lbs, 4 wheel drive will be higher losses obviously..

I wish I had not said anything about an accident earlier in the thread. I was driving my Mitsubishi L200 series 5 at about 35 mph and a car decided to cross over hitting me not quite head on but mostly front right. All ok, air bags work, main front cross member was bent and needed new front and wing, his car was destroyed and written off. So I can confidently say The Mitsubishi was well made, safe and a bloody good bit of kit for the money.

The Austrailans get a 3 liter we get a weezy little 1.9 !! worse still it doesn't use Adblue which means it probably relies on lots of EGR instead to control NOX, not good best Avoided me thinks after the hassle
and problems MAN trucks had when they tryied playing that game or maybe they have taken a leaf out of VW's emission passing book...

EGR's (and more importantly DFP's) are only ever a problem if people keep doing short journeys and not letting the car get up to temperature etc. If you know you will be doing a lot of long trips and/or heavy towing most of the time then these things dont go wrong.
