Apparently the Raptor will come to the UK in 2019.

Any thoughts/comments?

A 2.0 twin turbo diesel with a 10 speed auto.

I know it's 2019 and turbo charging tech has moved on but lets hope it's better than the pre-V6 VW Amarok offerings.

250 lb/ft at 1,500 rpm is fine in principle until you find you have next to no torque available off boost.

For serious off roading or towing I'd just want a larger engine with lb's to spare.

Hopefully the 10 gear ratios will make up for it.

various positive reviews on youtube some not so positive about the engine
power , coil sprung rear with lower payload in OZ I would guess for ride handling we would need one tonne + payload for tax reasons , wider than a standard ranger looks good.. so we will have to see what we get here in our image over performance market place ....

I'm itching to buy one, but the dealers seem to know very little! Enquired a few months ago and they had no idea, so just waiting on more info with regards to putting the order in.

I was initially disappointed by the engine, but having read and watched everything I can find, I think it'll be okay as it's about so much more than the power plant.

Spec-wise, it's pretty much identical to the Aus / NZ car; the only difference of note is that European models will feature the sports bar and bed cover from the Wildtrak model. See the press release below on Euro spec:

https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/feu/en/ne...

What this does mean is that due to the payload rating, it won't be classed as a commercial vehicle and thus they are likely to be quite a rare sight on the roads. For me it seems perfect - like a full-size R/C truck! hehe

Lifestyle is the key here I think, image comes first.

I would think ford uk would be looking at a payload tweek mind HMRC are clamping down on cab in vans used as company cars
so maybe the whole double cab van tax thing might change if the government feel a review is appropriate as some people are taking the piss its one thing for a surveyor or service engineer going on site or `a manager taking workers to job sites but not the company accountant going back and to to work and to the golf club at the weekend ...

Looks pretty wild and seems like it goes well on tough terrain. I’m sure they will get it to qualify for the 1000kg payload test, it’s done on kerb weight excluding driver, so given even the 3.2 Wildtrack has about 1050kg payload, they should be able to squeeze it through.

The 10 gear auto is in my Mustang and I am happy with it - should work well in the Raptor too

Lost interest in this Ranger 3 weeks until our local dealer can look at my year old transit custom van which has just developed a worrying engine rattle ...

So it's only available with a 2.0 diesel?

What's the bloody point of calling it a Raptor if you're not going to put something with a bit of poke in it?

They're selling "our" UK Ranger in the States now with a 2.3 ecoboost, turbo petrol. Manages 27-33 mpg and has 270 bhp / 300 lb ft.

Given the anti-diesel rhetoric here and the government's lack of clear direction, perhaps we should just have the ecoboost here instead ?

Yeah, I’ve watched a couple of reviews on it and it looks great! I presume we’ll have to wait on the next generation of Ranger before we get anything other than the diesel here. We’re still doing okay though, as while North America gets the good engine, they’re not getting the Raptor this time! hehe

There’s a lot of them kicking about Thailand now.

I popped in past a dealer and had a poke around it. They are nice trucks, quite wide tho and only look good in certain colours.

Not so sure they warrant the extra coin over the regular ranger 3.2 wildtrack

Out of interest, what were the colours that you did / didn’t like? From the pics I’ve seen the blue seems to be the best, but always hard to tell from a picture!

They are worth it over the Wildtrack, there are so many of the ranger with the kits on it will be nice to see Actual Raptors even in diesel form.

I’ll stick to a full size truck and my F150 though.
