So it's only available with a 2.0 diesel?

What's the bloody point of calling it a Raptor if you're not going to put something with a bit of poke in it?
Is that for the UK market or the whole Europe (if available there)?

Raptor is only available with the diesel everywhere it’s sold. Currently on sale in Asia and Australisia and soon to be Europe and South Africa too, all diesel.

They're selling "our" UK Ranger in the States now with a 2.3 ecoboost, turbo petrol. Manages 27-33 mpg and has 270 bhp / 300 lb ft.

Given the anti-diesel rhetoric here and the government's lack of clear direction, perhaps we should just have the ecoboost here instead ?
I would think ford have been taken by surprise with the Anti diesel nonsense especially as the E6 engines are as clean as petrol
I think petrol would sell but they will have planned and invested heavily in the panther engine and will want to see a return on that before they change I would guess they are working on hybrid just hope its not a st idea like putting the 1.0 ecoboost ...in the transit custom hybrid ...

Out of interest, what were the colours that you did / didn’t like? From the pics I’ve seen the blue seems to be the best, but always hard to tell from a picture!
Yes blue and red I thought worked well on the shape with the decals. Black and gray not so much.

Too wide for a lot of UK roads imo and too wide for Thai cities also for the most part. But like all cars, I suppose it depends where you live and where you intend to drive it.

Anyone had any communication from Ford UK on these? I signed up, but not heard anything.

Compared to most pickups in the UK/EU, 210hp is quite a bit of poke.

No, the lack of info and communication is driving me mental. hehe It must be available to order literally any day now - I'm chomping at the bit as my 4-year-old won't stop asking when his 'Ford Raptor Monster Truck' is coming. rofl

It's hardly in line with the 450bhp F150 based namesake, though, is it?

But it’s not an F150 and it’s not built for the US market.

First Raptor was 310hp and probably weighed more than the Ranger Raptor.

Don’t get me wrong. I’d like more power too. But 210hp makes it the most powerful Ranger for the UK market of any previous model.

Don’t forget the Wildtrak is also getting this new 210bhp engine, so with its extra heft, the Raptor won’t be quite as quick. Still, it does 0-62 in 10.5 sec, so it should be ample for most situations, all things considered.

It's just a bit disappointing! I appreciate it'll have a reasonable amount of go but it'd be a different animal with the standard issued German 3.0 diesel in it even in a fairly modest state of tune, say 270bhp and 450 lbft.
Ford seem to have missed a trick there, presumably because as far as I know they don't have access to such an engine......

If all UK Ranger models get the 2.0 Diesel engine it will be hard to justify 10k more for the Raptor than the Wildtrak.

I would like the 2.3 Ecoboost petrol option that they have in the US for the Ranger.

As I said earlier it'll be all change for the next generation Ranger and they'll probably have access to a VW diesel too ...

It’s a high speed off-roader looks amazing fun but not sure where in UK you could really appreciate one?

The regular ranger would do just fine in that instance. smile

I was driving my 3.2 wildtrack across Bangkok this evening planting the foot at any given opportunity from the toll booths on the express ways and to perfectly honest, it's all the power a pickup needs. These things are seriously heavy and they still haul ass just fine.

450BHP would be lovely but in 99% of situations it's simply not required.

I'll bet the new bi-turbos can be nicely tuned also.

So, turns out these went on sale on Feb 25th and supply is very limited. Despite frequently calling my local dealer, I only found this little nugget out yesterday, by which time everything was sold. mad Spent this morning calling dealers all over the UK and have managed to pick up a cancelled order for a blue one, arriving in July. phonebounce

Everyone I spoke to said they were getting two examples and both were sold. Most weren't even taking further orders as any additional cars won't be appearing until at least December, apparently. eek In fact, the dealer who is supplying mine effectively had only the one car as their second one will be a demo. Specs are as I suspected and the Raptor is not classed as a commercial vehicle.

Here's a link to the facelift Ranger range, including Raptor:

Congrats, that’s a great find! Very cool truck, you must be excited to give it a go.

Interesting that it won’t qualify as a commercial vehicle, that would make it a no-go for a lot of potential customers I suppose.
